Never have a bad video meeting again.
Owl Labs’ new 360° smart video conferencing camera is here. The Meeting Owl Pro uses smart tech, audio + visual cues and a WiFi based intelligence system to make you feel like you’re in the room, no matter your location.

I'm into this. We need better tooling for distributed teams and companies with multiple offices. Question: When does Owl expand into AR/VR communication? Or is that a trap (i.e. practically not useful or better)? @mark_schnittman
Mark Schnittman
@rrhoover We've got some stuff coming down the pike in 2020 that could certainly start to open up the possibilities for more AR/VR that I'm excited about. I think there could be some interesting AR applications in the conference room, but I'm not so bullish on VR. I can't see folks in the room having a good experience if they all have goggles covering their faces. Also, I think it's key that users don't have to take extra actions in their meetings, that's why we've been so keen in putting as much AI/robotics automation into the Owl as we can.

Big fan of the Owl team. as customers, we enjoyed having Owl's in our large team meetings. it makes the meetings much more interactive because its easier for everyone to be seen and heard. Looking forward to trying the Pro.
Mark Schnittman
@obaumer Thanks so much for sharing your experience! If you like the Meeting Owl, I think you're gonna love the Pro!

We use it for standup as well and it works amazingly good, Linux or MacOSX.
Mark Schnittman
@bertconcepts So glad to hear the Owl is working well for you on Linux! We're proud to support Linux as best we can (it's not always easy because there are so many different flavors).

We're happy Owl users over here. It makes our morning standup more fun and team loves it. Thanks for a great product!
Mark Schnittman
@darynakulya Thanks so much for the support, really appreciate it, and nothing drives me more than user love!

Oh wow! Yes! Got to play with the RoundTable back in the mid-2000s at Microsoft, and always hoped a more accessible version would make it (vs the Polycom licensed versions). This looks like a great product -- especially nice for teams spread across a couple of offices.

@heliostatic I'm in 100% agreement! When we decided to start Owl Labs and make the Meeting Owl (and Meeting Owl Pro!) a reality, one of the core design pillars was accessibly. To me this means a price that most companies can afford and an ease-of-use that enables non-techies to feel comfortable using the product. And of course, broad compatibility with the video conferencing applications you want to use!

Just got three for my dev teams to run stand-ups accross Arizona, Florida and UK. Betting it will help the teams be more connected. I saw a comment in the website about Q2 2020 whiteboarding capabilities. Can you give a sneak peak of whats coming?

Hey Product Hunters 👋 Owl Labs here! We’re on a mission to bring teams together for better work, no matter your location. And today, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Meeting Owl Pro. The Meeting Owl first-gen and Meeting Owl Pro are the only 360° camera, mic, speaker smart devices in-market today. How it works: While sitting in the center of a table, it uses vision and voice recognition to automatically shift the camera to focus on whoever is speaking. The result is a fully immersive experience for those who can’t be physically on-site, making everyone feel like they are in the same room. Both products are compatible with all popular video conferencing platforms (i.e. Zoom, Google Meet, Skype for Business, more) and accessible to nearly all businesses at a sub $1k price point. The products are also plug & play and enabled to connect to Wi-Fi, so updates can happen automatically with no drivers or downloads needed. Onto the tech specs... the Meeting Owl Pro 360° smart camera has an enhanced Owl Intelligence System(™), 2X sharper camera with 1080p resolution and 2X louder 360° in-room speaker. With the Meeting Owl Pro, customers can expect their meeting spaces to become increasingly intelligent over time with new smart integrations and capabilities, the first of those features being a new Smart Zooming functionality that identifies, locates, and magnifies the person speaking. Your meeting rooms are about to get a whole lot smarter. Follow us for more exciting business updates to come. Can’t wait to hear what you think! 🦉 Mark

Love using the Owl. It's a game changer for folks participating in meetings remotely.
Mark Schnittman
@lindsey3d Thank you so much, this is the kind of feedback that keeps me and the team going!

Back when I was in the corporate world , we needed this. You have a huge opportunity to take over. Wow. Wish you all the best really!
Mark Schnittman
@edisonjoao6871 Thanks so much for the encouragement! As a former remote worker I felt the pain of video meetings acutely, now I'm super excited for the Meeting Owl Pro to help alleviate some of the pain.

We have four owls and were beta testers of the pro. LOVE them all. The pro is SO incredible audio-wise. For small rooms, the regular owl should be sufficient, but the pro fits great in mid-sized and even large-ish rooms. We have a few Logitechs as well, but the Owls are everyones' favorites.
Mark Schnittman
@mark_gits_sf Can't thank you enough for these kinds words. This is what keeps us working for hard. I'm really grateful for your appreciation. Thank you so much for helping us as a beta tester!
Robert Zalaudek
@mark_schnittman Congrats on the launch of the Owl Pro. We've been users and fans of the original Meeting Owl and continue to use it for meetings, webinars and recording presentations.
Mark Schnittman
@robert_zalaudek Thanks so much, we really appreciate your support!

Any chance you could integrate far-field algorithms in the audio feed so I can not only hear but actually understand the people who are talking way across the room?
Mark Schnittman
@djmackdaddymc We're working on picking up those far- and/or soft-talkers better and better. The trick is making those folks easy to understand without also amplifying ambient noise. Audio is tough and we're always working on improving our algorithms. We love being able to take advantage of the Owl's WiFi connectivity to push automatic OTA updates to our customers!
