Cheese — Try not to laugh. A multiplayer game for iPhone.
Cheese presents you the funniest videos the internet has to offer. You can play against others simultaneously or in turns. One game consists of 10 videos. While you watch them, we use your iPhone’s sensors to check if you’re laughing. Who laughs more often, loses.

@aboundlessworld Hi Bud, thanks for your feedback! Did the app say you smiled or that you didn't look at the screen? In the former case the screen simply goes red, in the latter there's a small alert.
@floschliep for me the app said I smiled (screen went red) even though I didn't as said above "move a muscle". Great idea though!

@dinbisevac, @fabianehlert and I are the makers of Cheese. After the iPhone X launched last year we were all fascinated by the powerful TrueDepth Sensors and immediately knew we wanted to use them in an app. Luckily, the talented @dinbisevac had the idea for Cheese and we started working on it right away.
Cheese presents you the funniest videos the internet has to offer. You can play against others simultaneously or in turns. One game consits of 10 videos. While you watch them, we use your iPhone's camera and TrueDepth Sensor (latter only on the iPhone X) to check if you're laughing. Who laughs more often, loses.
We soft-launched Cheese last month and took the time to add more features (like Jokers) and generally improve the app. While the original version was only compatible with the iPhone X, Cheese can now be used on any iPhone with iOS 11.
We'd love to know what you think about it and are happy to answer all your questions!

I'd love to get more variety into the funny videos, especially I dislike it when a longer video from king bach for example just gets gut off … missing the punchline most of the time.
Pros:Even losing a round is fun
Cons:The comedic sources are repeatative

I like Cheese. However, it repeatedly tells me to look at the phone when I am looking at the phone.

Hopefully Im the only one having the "you smiled every time" issue. Overall great idea and design though!
Pros:Great idea, and could be an awesome way of bringing exposure to up-and-coming Youtubers
Cons:It said I smiled every single time, even when I made sure I didnt move a muscle. Maybe I just have Resting-Smiling-Face (better than RBF!)
@daviswbaer Hi Davis, I actually played one round with you and noticed this. It would be helpful to us if you gave us some more information (e.g. which device you are using) and in case you're open to this, join our beta. We will continue to improve the face/smile detection and need people who have this exact problem to give us feedback.
@floschliep I am using an iPhone 7. I tried again and it worked much better... not sure what the difference was.
Also, when you laugh at the end of one video, you often get penalized for the following video. Would be nice if there was a little break in there to reset your emotions :)

Thanks for hunting, @floschliep! What did inspire you to build Cheese? How do you see the future of your product?
@afanasiy Hey Afanasiy! We all really wanted to build an app that uses the iPhone X’s TrueDepth sensors and this idea seemed like a really fun way to do exactly that (we ended up also using some other new APIs in iOS 11 to make it compatible with older devices). As for the future of the app, we’d love to add more content to the app (right now we have about 8.5k Videos) and are looking for content providers. We also plan to add leaderboards and maybe temporary global challenges.
Pros: Innovative in that it's an answer to a lot of videos have that, "Try not to laugh at this!" tagline.
Cons: Facial recognition leads to Skynet!
