๐Ÿ‘‹ Hi Product Hunt! It's hard to believe it's been 7 years (!) since we launched our first product here. We've seen a lot of change since 2016, but nothing like the past 12 months due to the explosion of AI powered tools. Youโ€™ve likely seen how other knowledge management systems have rushed out AI features to try to improve workflows via text generation, improved spell checking, or suggesting ideas for new articles. While AI generated content can be helpful, we felt that more low quality wouldnโ€™t improve knowledge management systems, but actually make them worse. We see a bigger opportunity to help knowledge managers leverage existing content to make it more findable, accurate, and useful day-to-day. With that in mind, we designed Tettraโ€™s new AI powered Knowledge bot Kai to help knowledge managers with three crucial tasks: 1. Instantly answer repetitive questions in Tettra and Slack, or tap in an expert to answer 2. Tag existing knowledge content with relevant topics, improving search results by making knowledge documents easy to find using plain language, and 3. Preemptively generate reusable Frequently Asked Questions from your existing content to deflect future questions These new features, combined with our existing knowledge management workflows, make it easy for knowledge managers answer their teammates questions quicker and easier than ever. This allows knowledge managers and subject matter experts can focus on their tasks, uninterrupted by unnecessary questions. Seems like a smart approach. We've been playing around with different solutions here and I'm super scared to roll out anything that, if it's wrong, is really wrong. Bad documentation is 10X worse than no documentation at all imho.

Thanks @brian_swartz - you're 100% correct. Just pointing GPT at a large trove of unstructured documents bares bad results. You need the additional curation and KM layer to get good answers.

@jabbawy Thanks for the positive words, Ben! We believe that knowledge management tools need to meet people where they're already working in order for people to actually use them. Our Slack and Teams integrations do just that - They make it easy to get answers right in chat, where most people are already asking their questions.

@andygcook @kendallhtucker Thanks Kendall! Hereโ€™s the OpenAI guide we roughly followed to implement the question answering: https://github.com/openai/openai... We donโ€™t do any training or fine tuning, itโ€™s all done through individual prompts right now. It's a good balance of cost/speed/results.

@mvolpe Thanks, Mike! Agreed that re-using content is critical in today's current environment to stay competitive. There's research out there that shows that knowledge workers spend about 20% of their time just looking for the information they need to do their jobs, and setting up a searchable knowledge base recoups about 35% of that lost time. So net, it's 7% of everyone's time - multiple that by the dozens or even hundreds of people's salaries at a company, and you're talking about a six figure savings of lost time in wages over the course of a year, at least.
