“Eventually, your Tesla will be able to drive anywhere across the country to meet you, charging itself along the way.” O_o

WANT. WANT. WANT.
Jaime Macias
How many hunts will this product have without a new model even needing to be released. Super impressive.
Joshua Dance
@jmacias That is part of the magic of over the air updates. Your car gets better, and gets new features without you having to buy a new one.
Jaime Macias
@joshdance @jmacias oh I realize that. Im not being surprised in my comment, merely wondering how many valid hunts it will garner. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes the most uprooted product over variety of feature releases.
Liora
@jmacias ah but we don't wonder why each app gets it's own hunt, even though we use the same phone or computer to access it! It's hardware vs. software :)

I want this. Like now.

Soon...

Love this. Wish Tesla hadn't called it the same thing we named our consumer service (Summon!).

This is how product should be developed. Simple (relatively speaking) first steps, with a clear dream-like end goal: "Eventually, your Tesla will be able to drive anywhere across the country to meet you, charging itself along the way."

The future is so exciting!

re video... Caveat Summoner: do not stand in the street while summoning your Tesla. Or in front of your Tesla.

I just keep picturing myself as Tony Stark calling in Jarvis.

How often do you get to say the future just arrived? This is surely more worthy than most!
Jason DeMorrow
Very cool, although being a consummate cynic my first thought is, "what's my liability if it runs into a mailbox on its way to meet me?"

The point about tight parking spaces is an interesting one. Tesla has priority parking (with charging) at some UK service stations already. Maybe they could have priority spaces in other car parks that would actually be too tight for most cars?

Impressive. Can't wait next chapter of innovation by Tesla

*wistful sigh* I can hardly wait until I can afford to get a Tesla. I just finished re-reading Elon's biography and I'm just so obsessed with Tesla as a company and the mission behind it. Also, who can resist summoning your car- it's easier than getting your dog to "come!", not to mention the cool, futuristic factor of it.
Dilyar Askar
@katesegrin Amen! Honestly, even if I had a million bucks, I would get one of the Tesla cars over a Ferrari or other hot sports cars. Mainly to support the mission behind it, because I love Elon Musk and the tech/genius ideas behind it all.
Dharmesh Shah
@dilyaraskar @katesegrin Could not agree more. I'm not into expensive cars -- but I love my Model S, it's like living in the future.

Mind Blown

@joshdance and now, imagine how your 3-4 years old car becomes slower with each OS update, just like 4 and 5 iPhones :)

Doesn't seem all that helpful at home if it can't plug itself in without you.

The only thing that would top this would be if it could transform into Optimus Prime 🕹
