After a smoke break, start the timer.
Smoke when the timer expires.
Once a day, the app will increase the time interval on the timer.
Every day you will smoke less and less.
It's simple, it works.
Hi.π
The idea of the app came to me when I was playing tournament poker professionally and could only smoke 1 time per hour during a break. Then I started smoking the lightest cigarettes I could find. At first it was a little difficult, but then the body got used to it and I could no longer smoke cigarettes with a high nicotine content.
π€
And then I thought - what if I smoke less and less? And that's how this idea got developed:
The app allows you to smoke after the timer expires.
Once a day, the interval between smoke breaks will increase by a few seconds.
Thus, you will smoke a little less every day until you achieve a result.
In quick access, you will always have a notification that shows how much time is left before a smoke break.
β
Using the app for 3 to 12 months will give your body time to adapt to the reduction in nicotine levels. (get rid of excess nicotine receptors)
This way you can quit smoking without the usual stress.
In the settings, you enter the number of cigarettes you smoke per day now (or vaping puffs), after which the application calculates the initial interval. Then enter how many cigarettes per day you want to smoke at the end of the period, so the application calculates the final interval.
π
Yes, with the app you can not quit smoking, but simply reduce the amount of nicotine consumption.
According to my statistics, more than half of users use the app to control and reduce, and not to quit smoking completely.
For example, I used to smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day.
Now there are 10-11 cigarettes a day and I chose to stay at this level.
In addition to significant savings, I noticed that I began to carry long flights and train trips without smoking without any problems.
6-8 hours without nicotine is not a problem for me now.
It is also easier to quit smoking completely, both psychologically and physiologically, when you smoke rarely and your dependence on nicotine has already been reduced.
π
I have not found complete analogues of the application. Some suggest a similar method, however, instead of increasing the intervals, they suggest reducing the number of cigarettes, but this approach has less flexibility.
For example, my method does not require you to enter the time of going to bed and waking up. This is convenient when you watched a movie and fell asleep later or woke up later than usual. In these cases, the application will work correctly, it does not matter how many cigarettes (or vaping puffs) you smoke per day, the main thing is to observe the intervals.
π₯
The main thing that the app gives you is habit control and an addiction reduction tool.
I will not tell you about the Odyssey Pact and the Time of the Weakling, so that it would be more interesting for you to download the application and learn about them yourself. π
Unfortunately, so far only for Android, when SWay is released for iOS, I will definitely tell you about it on ProductHunt.
Dropped an upvote. The interval method sounds like a sensible approach to easing off the habit without going cold turkey and climbing the walls.
But I wonder, how does the app keep you honest? I mean, itβs one thing to watch a timer, but itβs another to not just sneak in an extra smoke during a tough day.
@aman_wen By cheating on the app, you're cheating on yourself. Why:) No one is watching you, it's your own personal means of control. You'll know you cheated anyway, so it's pointless.
Well done @mik_che for introducing SWay! The gradual reduction strategy with timed intervals seems like a sustainable approach to quitting smoking/vaping. π How does SWay personalize the quitting process based on individual habits and preferences?
@ashwinaravind Each person has their own daily smoking rate, SWay is very flexible in this regard. You can start with any number of cigarettes (or vape puffs) per day, go part of the way, stay at a reduced number of cigarettes per day for a while, and then continue. You can play with the settings to create the most comfortable scenario for yourself.
Hey Mik, just wanted to say thank you for your work on this. I'm really passionate about the addiction/habit space and would be happy to chat sometime if you'd like to. I hope everything goes well with the launch and the app!
