I first created Swappa to solve a problem I had as software developer. It began as a marketplace specifically for used smartphones. Flashback: Several years ago I wanted to get into developing mobile apps so I needed a cache of phones for dev and testing. After repeated failures trying to buy cheaper devices using the old used/local marketplaces, and an almost high-speed chase with a Craigslist scammer, I decided there had to be a better way. So I coded up the first version of Swappa as a safer, simpler solution for all of us to buy and sell newish tech. There are a few things that make Swappa different, including a strict "no junk" policy that's actually enforced. Another is really good customer support from real people who are intimately familiar with the technology bought and sold on the site. While Swappa has has evolved beyond smartphones to include tablets, laptops, smart home tech, and even video games and consoles, our mission has stayed the same.
