SuperWidget is a user friendly app to create iOS widgets.
๐ No need to write any code, it's plug 'n play
๐ฅฐ Works with Shortcuts out of the box
๐งโ๐ป It even works with custom APIs if you want the next level!
You'll love it โค๏ธ
@choudhary thanks for the kind words! I like to see how an app behaves in real life before downloading it so I followed the same principle with SuperWidget ๐งโ๐ป I hope this will give a nice walkthrough for new people interested in trying out the app
Hi, Product Hunt ๐
I'm Lorenzo and today I'm so excited to introduce you to SuperWidget, my first launch on ProductHunt since I first joined in 2014 ๐ป
This app was born from a personal need a year ago. I love data and I was looking to track how many people were reading my articles for a local newspaper. "That's going to look cool on my home screen" I thought, until I figured out that no app allowed to do this without having to write JS code.
Why didn't a simple, user friendly app to pass some data from the Shortcuts app or a REST API, din't exist? That's when I had the idea ๐ซ
My philosophy for this artisanal app enabled to identify four key values:
๐ No Code.
People simply want to track what's meaningful to them, without needing to worry about technical stuff or even writing code.
๐จ Beautiful and native.
I'm a huge fan of native iOS app, they perfectly integrate with the system and take the most out this beautiful system, so I wanted SuperWidget to have a nice UI. Both for the editor and the widgets itself. It supports dark mode, Siri intents and everything you'd expect from a native app.
๐โโ๏ธ Works with Shortcuts.
Apple put a lot of effort into evolving an app, to complete the mission that the friends at Workflow.is started. SuperWidget supports getting any kind of data from the Shortcuts app. You'll find hands-on videos in the app itself if you're wondering how to do it. No worries, it's really simple.
๐งโ๐ป Works with REST APIs.
Finally you can have widgets that are populated using data from services like Shopify, Mixpanel, Health and a lot more. And if you're really into customizing everything: it would be possible to configure the widget appearance using APIs as well.
๐คฉ Tasty features ahead.
In the upcoming versions, you'll be able to create your own widget designs using a simple graphical editor. You'll also find a dedicated gallery for pre-made widgets, matching lots of useful use-cases (no pun intended).

This is presented by me, Lorenzo, a 23yo designer and app developer based in Italy ๐ฎ๐น One of my goals would be to run my indie app development firm, building products that lots of people will love. When I'm not trying to achieve that, I love to spend time in the outdoors, playing basketball and taking long walks in the mountains ๐๏ธ
Well, thanks for reading this far!
๐ THE FIRST 10 PRODUCT HUNTERS DOWNLOADING THE APP WILL GET A COUPON CODE TO GET SUPERWIDGET PLUS FOR FREE. FOREVER. Reach out at producthunt@superwidget.app to say hi and I'll share the code ๐ฅฐ
Let me know if you have any comments or questions.
To a future of beautiful data-powered home screens with SuperWidget ๐
@shemul thank you very much ๐ฅฐ Yes, the app was designed to have simplicity in mind and even the next features, like the custom widget designer, will have this philosophy.
Really love the app and already using it for my project. I have a few feature requests:
1) Custom design, obviously I will pay for it ๐
2) Multiple data points, instead of just one
3) How often does it refresh? Maybe an option to change that
All the best, this app has good potential.
@heyarviind thank you very much mate!
1. It's definitely on the list, stay tuned ๐
2. Yes, this will be an addition to the Widget Studio, you'll be able to create layouts with as many data points as you want
3. Currently the widgets refresh on an iOS defined schedule. From 98% percent of use cases it's sufficient and for the remaining 2% there's the possibility to force-refresh widgets through an handy Shortcut action
This is really cool! I love no/low code tools, and i think this is a great way to help folks learn how to code and engineering principles without having to get caught up in syntax. Plus - super useful to be able to add stuff to your iphone!
SuperWidget is a fantastic app that makes it super easy to create iOS widgets with no code required. It even works with Shortcuts and custom APIs, making it the perfect solution for anyone looking for a user-friendly way to create widgets.
@lucio_luchini thank you! Currently this launch version supports a nicely designed widget with title and text. But in the upcoming versions you'll be able to create any layout you want and yes, the Apple Watch complication / app is on the list as well ๐
