Hi! I'm Meera, one of the lead makers of SUNNY. My co-makers and I were inspired to build SUNNY because after collectively several decades working in the energy & sustainability space we realized that for the average person, simply understanding what’s really driving their home’s energy bills and trying to navigate ways to save is confusing, takes too long, and is way too complicated! Our team envisions a world where the most sustainable, energy-efficient decisions are also the easiest. My journey in sustainability began in grade school in the 90s when amidst a daydream, I realized that almost all of the paper in my entire school was getting sent to a landfill simply because in the areas where kids used paper the most - the classroom - there were only garbage cans. My friends and I crafted cardboard boxes with signs labeled “paper!” and distributed in classrooms and our school’s paper recycling rate went from basically 0 to almost 100% overnight! I share this story because it was my first lesson that one of the greatest strategies in creating more sustainable communities is to simply make doing the right thing easier!
