Hello, I am Rulian, I am the maker of Storyteller. So a few months ago I tried launching a project idea by doing the typical first steps - landing page, email capture, analytics. I wasn't terribly sure how to sell the idea, so I wanted to A/B test my content as well. As for the content, I really didn't have any marketing material, just a frustration with project management in software development that I needed to vent, and a solution that I thought was worth building. I spent days creating a design to tell my story. I basically wrote a blog post, created mock ups, and built a landing page. I then had to figure out and integrate A/B testing tools, then wiring together analytics and email campaign capture forms. Now, I've done all these things many times in the past, but even with my technical knowledge it was still a lot of time and energy put into getting my idea out there. And the end result—nobody cared about my idea! Turns out people don't hate project management software as much as I do. But... the one feedback that I got, a lot, was "I love how simple you kept your website, I understood the problem and the solutions really well." Now, originally that wasn't the plan. The original plan was to make a really fancy website on Framer or Webflow, with all the bells and whistles. But given that I really didn't have a "market" yet, I didn't really know how to make a marketing website. So I started by writing a blog post, and turned that into a website. But the feedback I got was people liked the fact that I wasn't trying sell the idea. I was presenting it to the audience in an authentic manner, reliving my frustrations, and connecting to them a a peer instead of a product owner. So I thought - I should just make a blog I can A/B test, capture emails and feedback, and analytics without having to reconfigure all these different tools every single time. Most importantly, a place where I can manage all of that in one place, instead of scattered across services. And thus, I created storyteller. A waitlist page builder meant to keep you focused on telling your story instead of making a sale. I build Storyteller in a way that if I was the only one to ever use it, it would still have been worth building. So Storyteller is my labor of love, I am proud of it, I have found it immensely valuable already as explore other ideas, and I hope you give it a try, and let me know what I can do to make it better.
