.@jakestein@joshdance Really interesting history. How does Stitch compare / is unique to Segment - that also deals with ETL pipeline management? Does stich also function as a tag manager?
@john_tans@joshdance Hey John, thanks for this question. Stitch isn't a tag manager, and tools like Segment are really great options for that. We're actually a Segment partner, and they are one of the data sources that we pull from.
Segment's sources feature is more comparable to Stitch. We differentiate by having more data sources (35+ and growing https://www.stitchdata.com/integ...), offering access to raw, untransformed data, a larger free tier (5 million events/rows per month), configurable data replication frequency on all plans, and by focusing exclusively on the optimizing the data consolidation experience.
We have a bunch of joint customers, and we think that the tools can work really well together.
Would have loved to have had this instead of building this myself at my last job :)
5MM events seems like a pretty generous free tier.. looking forward to using this for future projects!
Another tip of the hat to this team and to Stitch Data. We are looking into making our data available to our customers via Stitch Data, as a way for them to connect the dots between their other data sources (think Mixpanel or CRM) and the feedback we collect for them. No more export/import or tooling around with multiple API's for our customers.
I signed up for RJ Metrics Pipeline a couple of months ago. One of the best onboarding experiences ever only to be outdone by an amazing product. I almost had a heart attack this morning when I found out they were being taken over but was quickly relieved to find out the product is being renamed and will continue. (Im not affiliated with the company in any way. Just a happy user)
My company, Fishtown Analytics, uses Stitch to consolidate data for multiple of our clients to Amazon Redshift. It's an amazing consulting delivery tool for me--it allows me to focus on doing value-added work, not building ETL plumbing. It's a breeze to configure and lets you get to work right away.
Thanks Clark!
Hi Product Hunters, I'm CEO and co-founder of Stitch, and I'd love to hear your feedback and answer any questions you have.
As more background: Stitch is a simple, powerful ETL service built for developers. We connect to all your data sources – from databases like MongoDB and MySQL, to SaaS tools like Salesforce and Zendesk – and replicate that data to your warehouse. With Stitch, you can provision data for analysis, BI, data science and more in minutes.
The more important question is what do I think of this team! I have been working with Jake and his team for over 4.5 years now and there is not one person in this team that I have not been wowed with. Jake has done an extremely amazing job of hiring very data and analytics focussed team - the team that gets data. Whenever I have needed anything, I have never had to explain the "how" - just the "what" and this team gets me even better results than I could have asked for.
I distinctly remember reaching out to Jake for RJ Metrics trial, and he himself set up the entire dashboard for us during the weekend. I remember the empowerment I felt cause I could now look at multiple different data sets and analysis without repeatedly going to my engineering team for pulling reports. It just gave me so much confidence and the ability to do my job better.
An absolutely amazing team, and I'm sure Stitch will be just as great and they will continue to do a great job. Congrats Jake!
The engineering team at Stitch has solved some difficult problems in order to get data flowing seamlessly between different APIs, file systems, and database platforms. We'll be writing about what we've learned on our blog in the coming weeks, but I am excited to answer questions about it here in the meantime.
