Intelligently fix & improve your writing in any application with a lightning-fast native assistant. Tackle any email or Slack message. Professional communication is not a problem anymore.
Hey ProductHunters! 👋
In June, we launched Steer with @vojta_bohm. Our mission is to reduce the effort needed for business communication. We do this by using the latest frontier AI language models and providing an easy way to access them in any app and website on your computer. Steer works in any language, making it a great tool for non-native professionals.
We got the #3 Product of the day and even more importantly a bunch of users and relevant feedback. We worked hard to make the product better and here we are again with two major updates:
🪟 Windows app - we started on MacOS and now we're bringing the same experience to the OS dominating the market
🆓 Freemium - users now get 10 fast requests each day and then the rewrites only slow down, but you can still use Steer for free
Besides that, we also bring another quality of life updates:
💡 Advanced Improve - Steer now analyzes your writing style, tone and goal to provide even better rewrites
⚡ Quick shortcuts - For the most frequent actions, you can directly invoke rephrase action without opening Steer window
➡️⬅️ Concise - A new rephrase action that shortens your messages while keeping all the important details intact, ideal for wordy users or those using dictation.
We would appreciate your thoughts, criticism, roast and feedback, now even from the team Windows! 🙏
@vojta_bohm@daniel_bukac Congrats on the updates! The Concise feature is fantastic. Have you considered integrating tone suggestions that balance warm and competent cues, as discussed in book Cues: Master the Secret Language of Charismatic Communication? It could help users refine their message to be both approachable and authoritative!
@daniel_bukac@tonyabracadabra We've created a custom thought process that looks at the message, its context, goal, and tone to make it better. So, we're already aligned with your suggestion :)
Hey Daniel! It looks like you're really changing the game of business communication making it easier than ever. Hope many founders can take the most of it. Really congrats!
Congrats on the launch, folks! I just watched your video and wanted to leave some feedback: What makes Grammarly great is that it shows you what you need to improve and leaves you the option to edit it or not. Sometimes, it makes more sense not to edit it, as the suggested option changes the meaning. So, I'd probably still use Grammarly for fixing grammar issues, but this tool definitely makes rewriting the text with ChatGPT more efficient for sure.
Thanks for the feedback @pinar, you're right. I usually retry multiple times until I'm happy with it. One possible solution we might come up with can be that you accept or decline each change in the rewrite.
@pinar That's a fair point. I like and use Grammarly myself, but only the web version.
Not a big fan of Grammarly MacOS integration for two reasons:
1. As a designer, the ubiquitous green circle is too annoying to me.
2. As an engineer, I'm not ready to allow access to all input fields for a third-party app.
@anton_osipov That's fair. I'm also not comfortable allowing access to everything I write for a third-party app. But I couldn't find a better alternative either.
I am getting an error message when I try to run the installer on Windows - I have the error message I uploaded to Wormhole (Another Product Hunt participant!)

I just tried it out and really liked that I could change the default shortcuts and hide the hint. I've been using it in Figma, Slack, and Notion, and I'm really enjoying it!
@h_mac hey, it's amazing to read such positive feedback. And kudos to you, many users couldn't figure out how to hide the hint.
Is there anything you'd like us to improve?
Congrats on launching the product @daniel_bukac@vojta_bohm. I am sure you'd 'Steer' many people to use this, given how poor reading habits are affecting speech and writing abilities. It would be great to collaborate with you guys in the future as Steer would do a great job of enhancing 'Writing' component of LSRW skills in English. As a suggestion, do consider 'author styles' as a feature. How would author X express a certain emotion or convey something in their own inimitable style? That should excite users.
My students learning English would love 💕 this! They are professionals who use English regularly, but find it tiring to find the right word or expression when writing emails or reports.
Steer 2.0 is an indispensable tool for effective communication! It saves a lot of time by improving and correcting emails and messages in any applications. With this app, you can easily handle emails or messages in Slack, thanks to its smart and fast assistant.
There's never enough time in the day to be able to respond to my volume of emails, this could be my saving grace...
Love the name, love the logo & I have no doubt I'll love the tool, Slack is one of my most-used apps so thank you for integrating that!!
I hope the launch goes well :)
@cranqnow Thanks, Sam. We completely understand that replying to emails can be a bit of a chore.
And btw, we've made it so we don't have to explicitly integrate any app; Steer should work out of the box in any text field.
Marvelous! For an AI-generated short film tool, the script is very important. If it is used to improve the spoken dialogue and writing skills of the characters, it would be great!
This sounds like the perfect tool for seamless, professional communication! A lightning-fast native assistant that improves writing across any app—from emails to Slack—saves time and ensures clarity. No more struggling with tone or grammar—just polished, professional messaging every time. 🚀✍️
@vojta_bohm@ashitvora thank you Ashit! We have thought about integrating with both Alfred and Raycast; however, we want to keep full ownership of the whole experience and platform to make sure we can keep improving the product.
