A comparison between Netlify's Drop feature (https://app.netlify.com/drop) and Static.app would be nice. As I understand Static provides edit feature which Netlify doesn't. But, Netlify provides custom domain for free which is far more useful imo as one can always edit code offline and drop it again on Netlify.

@choudhary I agree! It will be super hard to compete with players like Netlify and Vercel. Most of the features are provided for free there.

@choudhary @csaba_kissi There is always a room for competitors.

Static.app is an excellent service for deploying static websites directly from the browser. The company has also made it extremely simple to use most of their features, which so many get wrong in overcomplicating their UIs and documentation. Since I started using Github Pages, I've been looking for other services to deploy static websites, and Static is one of the best products I've found.

I am simply impressed with the ease of deployment for new websites. With the trend of single-page websites and more focus on the frontend development, the Static.app will become more and more popular. The Forms functionality is impressive, I started to collect data without using an external form service. The interface is very fast and intuitive.

Great tool! It has such an amazing features! Bravo! Big congrats on the launch! ^_^ I must say that the platform itself looks amazing! Such a nice and pleasant design! ^_^ Could you tell me please - does the media storage supports animated gifs? :))

@maria_brm Hey, Maria! Sure, you can upload any digital image into Static.app. That includes .gif, .jpeg, and .png files!

So, a Netlify alternative? Donโ€™t get my wrong โ€” I love having options โ€” but what makes Static.app different?
Dmitry Kotov
@anna_0x Hey, Anna! Thank you for a great question. As far as we know, Netlify is a developer-oriented service which involves the knowledge of CLI (command line) and Git. We made Static.app a no-code app, that allows people without any web development or CLI knowledge to host their static websites. Also, there is a Dropbox-like file browser that allows editing the website content inside a browser + a form response collector. Hope that answered your question? Let me know if I missed anything
Anna Filou
@stubisdon well, Netlify certainly doesn't require any development knowledge. You just drop the folder containing your website and it generates a link and hosts it for you. You can later charge it to a custom domain. But Netlify does not let you edit the website in the browser so that's a difference!

Love the idea. Can I upload scripts or just HTML and JS content?
Roman Frank
@bogomep Hey! What do you mean by scripts? You can upload static files (html, css, js, image), all javascript code must be compiled.

Hey, this seems to a simple solution which will come very handy for small projects. Thank you so much!!
Farokh Shahabi
Super interested. Is there a place that I can see a demo?
Andrian Valeanu
@farokh_shahabi You can create a free trial account and try it live! We don't limit the functionality.

Cool product! Your app has saved my time!
Dom
Does this have any advantages over Vercel.com?
Dmitry Kotov
@ughwtfdude Hey, Dom! Great question. To start working with Vercel, you have to have a Git repository and everything related to modification of your website is done through Git. In Static.app, you don't have to know any code or how to operate Git or CLI. You can just create a static website template in any website builder out there, export it as a .zip archive and upload it into Static.app. Everything will be automatically deployed and you can make changes to your website inside of a Dropbox-like interface inside your browser. Hope that answered your question ;)
