Startup Stack Reviews — A guide to the best services and SaaS tools for startups

Excited to share our startup service provider and SaaS guide with everyone! Last week we launched our investor review system (investoratings.webflow.io), and people said they wanted something not just for VCs but for service providers and SaaS tools, so we went and built a new website to make that happen. Startup Guide is a site with crowd sourced reviews of tools and services startups need when launching and scaling: whether it’s the best lawyer or accountant, agency for dev or design, or saas tool for any startup needs. We're aiming to build the definitive review system for the startup ecosystem. The way to gain full access of the reviews (now 100+!) is to contribute to the reviews database by submitting a review yourself: --> Submit a review of a service provider: https://airtable.com/apptnqkizgs... --> Submit a review of a SaaS tool: https://airtable.com/apptnqkizgs... We're trying to solve the Yelp problem on these review sites -- where only the lovers/haters submit reviews -- by having everyone submit reviews. That's why we require everyone do so in order to see the reviews! Though you can submit reviews of other things (VCs, companies, LPs)  in order to see these reviews, and reviewing service providers or products will grant you access to all our other review sites. Love the idea behind this but I think you need to focus on how to get a more attractive front end so that people are encouraged to leave reviews. I was quite confused when I landed on the page with a few random service providers shown.

Re: Feedback (I know you mentioned it's in beta) - I saw this review when landing and it was a bit off-putting to me (feels like I'm getting upsold haha.) https://share.cleanshot.com/LvCb... iirc TrustPilot and Capterra disallow reviews from containing hyperlinks, might be a good addition? Just to avoid backlink spam + potential affiliate links haha. Just a random thought, congrats again on the launch. Liking the simplicity of the UI. (Function first!)

Congratulations to the Startup Stack Reviews team on your successful launch on Producthunt! Your initiative is a boon for the startup ecosystem, significantly simplifying the complex process of making the right services and software choices. A suggestion I have is adding a feature that recommends synergistic SaaS or service combinations. Startups could greatly benefit from knowing which PR agency, lawyer, payroll product etc. work best together, based on other founders' experiences. Keep rocking!

One of the biggest benefits of being a YC alum is having access to the internal forum, Bookface, where founders share recommendations -- for investors, agencies, other tools, and more. Within the space of "startups buying things", is there a particular niche you're focusing on to start? i.e.) when should I think of Stack Reviews vs Clutch.co vs G2, etc.

I agree with Maxwell about the front end. In addition, I would say maybe you should focus on a more light user journey because it can be quite annoying for users to “sign up” ! Besides these things, the idea is incredible ! Love the vibe 🪩
