Hey Hunters👋 I’m Max, and I’m excited to introduce StarLens – a fun, AI-powered way to analyze your GitHub profile! 🚀 What does StarLens do? It scrapes your starred repos and profile, using AI agents and LLM chains to: 🔍 Roast your GitHub game with witty insights 📊 Recommend repos tailored to your interests 🔧 Modify output with LLM selector and voice/tone settings. 🛠️ Why I built it: I'm doing a 30-day AI sprint. StarLens is one of the first big projects out of this sprint, and it’s designed as an inductive learning tool - clone it, tweak it, freak it! It's built with low-code tools n8n and WeWeb. 👨‍💻 Who’s it for? Anyone with a GitHub account who wants to see their profile from a fresh perspective, or even just have a bit of fun with AI-driven insights. Try it out! I’d love to hear your feedback 🙌 p.s. You can get a 2 week trial of n8n cloud (use my MAX50 code for 50% off for a year): https://n8n.partnerlinks.io/buil... (signing up via this link will help me to build in public longer and ship more cool AI tools).

hey all! I'm getting some rate limit errors from Claude. Will switch default to llama 3.1b for now. If you got an error when trying to load your response, it's probably that!

Really like it...looks like a super useful tool for developers seeking fun and unique insights into their GitHub activity. Congrats for the launch!

Max, AI-driven insights sound interesting but I'm wondering if roasting GitHub profiles might discourage new coders who need encouragement rather than jokes, also, how about more detailed metrics that can help users see their progress over time?
Max Tkacz
@adaequityexpert hey Ada - valid points. So far most folks have been loving the roast. Overall this "tool" is more of a showcase of how easily one can start interacting with language models and AI agents. So my hope is that it gets duplicated by folks (https://30dayaisprint.notion.sit...) and used as an inductive learning tool. If someone would like to flesh it out with more sections; please do!

Which LLM model should I add next to StarLens?
Kyrylo Silin
Hey Max, have you considered expanding this concept to other developer platforms like GitLab or Bitbucket? Congrats on the launch!
Max Tkacz
@kyrylosilin I have not but that's a great idea, дякую! If anyone would like to do that, you can clone the backend from this Notion page (shouldn't be too hard to swap out the GitHub api steps for GitLab/ Bitbucket): https://30dayaisprint.notion.sit...

Congrats on the launch, @max_tkacz! StarLens is a brilliant tool for developers looking to get unique and entertaining insights into their GitHub activity. The use of AI to provide witty feedback is a great touch. Could you share more about the future plans for expanding StarLens to other platforms like GitLab or Bitbucket?

This sounds interesting, Max! I'm curious about how the personalization works—do the modifiers significantly change the output quality and relevance? Also, can you share some examples of the witty insights it generates? It would be great to see how it enhances GitHub profiles beyond just the standard metrics. Looking forward to trying it out!

StarLens is an exciting and creative way to analyze GitHub profiles with AI-powered humor and insights! I’m curious—will future versions allow users to compare their profiles with peers or top contributors for added fun and competition?

Stumbled upon your tool kinda randomly and tried it out, honestly, the witty insights seem more like sarcasm than actual value, is there a way to tone down the roast and focus more on actionable suggestions, also, the AI-driven repo recommendations didn't quite hit the mark for me, any plans on making that more accurate?

Amazing work with the app! The UI is incredibly user-friendly, and the color scheme is beautiful. I’m excited to use this in my daily routine. I’ll be recommending it to my friends and would love to stay connected on LinkedIn!

Sounds like a really fun tool, Max! Just tried it, and it's a blast seeing the AI roast my GitHub profile 😂. Really like the repo recommendations too. Congrats on the launch.

@alexanderwilliamhawkins thanks so much, glad it gave you a giggle :)

Stumbled upon this AI tool through an ad & tried it out, while the concept is intriguing, it kinda feels like a novelty more than a useful tool, the insights aren't hitting deep & the customization is fun but not groundbreaking, curious if anyone else found a real practical use for it or is it more for laughs

I’m kinda skeptical about AI trying to give meaning to GitHub stars, feels like it's reducing human creativity to mere numbers, still, curious to see if it'll actually offer any valuable insights or just be another fancy tech toy.

Not sure how this AI tool is different from existing tools like WakaTime or GitAnalytics, might be fun to see some quirky insights but feels a bit gimmicky, plus cloning and tweaking seriously sounds labor-intensive for just some repo recommendations, hoping for something that's more plug-and-play without all the extra work
