What I loved about Buffer some years ago was that they got rid of the "jam in some semi-random content" feature.
This visibly (and genuinely noticeably) reduced the amount of clutter in my social feed from people who were clearly just using that feature. Are you saying you've added this back? Does the world really need totally automated content being injected into social feeds? Especially as users are more aware than ever who is putting effort into curation and who is just... automating it?
@davedri the Social Media Assistant enables you to easily find amazing content from your industry (only from valuable sites). It's up to you as a user to decide which of them you will publish to your accounts.
I've been using it to easily find content about Personal Digital Assistants and it has worked really well. The content presented very interesting news about this upcoming industry to my followers. They liked it.
@florin_muresan did you ever see the old Buffer feature? Were you around to see how incredibly quickly it became apparent everyone was using the same thing?
Here's a recap: https://open.buffer.com/retiring...
My Twitter feed was flooded with "oh hell yes thank goodness" as a response. That feels like an eternity ago in internet years.
Generic channels of curation create generic experiences because the discovery function of the vast majority of attempts in this space (with the resources typically allocated to it) invariably create a bandwidth narrower than something truly unique. Which makes me wonder again if we're just going to see another tide of same-same.
Saying "it's up to you what you do with it" is a bit of a last-decade attitude to tech in the era of platform responsibility. Content curation doesn't exactly draw the most ethical or discerning customer at the big end of the funnel.
I do wish you well but given I care about this space a lot, it's worth asking some tough questions and they are ones exponentially more people will be thinking than saying. I'm cheering you on to create something wonderful to discover nuanced content for discerning audiences... so let's go for that 👨🎨
Hi @florin_muresan . Do you offer a functional trial/demo that we can access? Also, do you offer discount pricing for educational institutions? Thanks, I am excited to check it out!
@ghundermark Hi Greg, I'll send you a message regarding the second question. No, there is no trial or demo at the moment. Only the number 1 choice for the Product Hunt community, with inviting friends in order to gain free access. Otherwise, there's number 2 presented on the Launch Page. However, the good part is that we have a 30 Days money back guarantee, and you don't have to give us a reason if you want the refund. You just ask for it and we'll make it happen.
I like your "Special Campaign", but I feel like it is a bit hard to be motivated to do this without knowing/loving the product first. Having a sense of urgency, and a finite amount of slots might be counterintuitive, if you want a person to get familiar with the product first.
That being said, I could see people just sharing this blindly first, just to get the deal and then decide later if they want to actually use the product. One technical note: in #1 you say you have to share with 3 people to get it free for a month. In #2, you say anyone can a 30 money back guarantee. It seems like you don't have to share it with anyone to get the "free" month.
I'd be curious to know how effective the campaign is. If you wrote a blog post about it, I would love to read it!
@james_osullivan You’re absolutely right! People can test the product for a month and then choose to stop using it, and they’ll get a refund. I think that speaks about how much we believe in our product. Secondly, we figured that some people will feel more comfortable signing up to our campaign and entering our challenge for a chance to test the product for free (as opposed to providing their credit card information). So far, people seem to love the idea of a challenge. We’re all about experimenting and trying new things in marketing, so we’ll probably write an article on this if it helps others become better marketers.
Thanks a lot for your input. I appreciate it.
@florin_muresan faster than Buffer? :) If so, would you like to have an interview about Social Squirrly at StartupRadius? Ping me at paul@startupradius.com for more details if interested!
@florin_muresan - can you help clear up my confusion? This is probably just me not fully understanding, but I'm seeing "schedule one year of social media posts" here and on the site, then "You’ll be able to schedule posts for two weeks" in your previous comment and on the pricing page, then someone else saying they scheduled a month of posts....
So what's possible here? Would I be able to go in and schedule a full year? A month's worth? Or just the upcoming two weeks?
@mattholsinger There are no restrictions on how many posts you can schedule. You can do your scheduling every day, every week, once a month, and so on - that's up to you. You can schedule curated content that you’ve discovered using the Social Media Assistant or original posts you’ve created. You can create Categories, and have the same post go on your social media profiles multiple times. It all depends on your strategy, really. The point is, Squirrly Social will help you do all these things much, much faster.
@florin_muresan OK, I understand I can create however many posts I want. But what I'm attempting to clarify: Through Squirrly, I can schedule those posts to go out for the next two weeks (max). Then I'd have to return to the site and queue up another two weeks' worth of posts, is that correct?
@mattholsinger awesome! I get it now.
No. You can schedule messages to go out even in October 2022 if you want. And you'll be able to see them in the Calendar view so that you have full control.
I present some screenshots on Twitter, because I can't seem to upload things in this comment: https://twitter.com/florin_mures...
You can see the screenshots and some extra explanations.
Awesome question, Matt. We didn't think of answering and providing help for this before.
You can use the Calendar feature as it offers more control, like i did in the screenshots.
Otherwise, you can just click the Create Post green button and select to schedule for a future data. Just click on the date and use that view to go to any time in the future you want.
@mattholsinger Yes, and also as you can see in our calendar we have some of our messages already going out during that period, through some of the Evergreen scheduling.
It can be 100% set it and forget it if you want.
But you can also plan entire social media campaigns that have been studied and planned by your team at make them very good.
Love the Social Squirrly. I've tried so many scheduling platforms, but this one I like the most. My favourite feature is Content Discovery. I can't believe how fast I planned a full month of social media posts for my social media accounts. I started to created some categories too, and make some schedule settings and now I wait to see how it works.
Just one question: Can I change the order for the posts when they are going live? For example: I notice if I added a new post, it goes to the end of the list. But maybe sometimes, I will need to make that first and after that the rest of the list..
@andreea_elisabeta_muresan_leau Thanks for your question. Short answer: Yes, yes you can! Changing the order in which your posts go live is super easy. All you have to do is select the post you want and move it using your mouse (simple drag and drop operation). You'll notice that once you move your post up or down, the order in which the posts go live will change.
Hi @jakub_sedivy , Thanks for the Upvote. Now, to answer your question. Without getting into the whole price difference, one of the main things Social Squirrly has going for it is the Social Media Assistant feature. You basically just add a keyword, and the tool will surface interesting, curated, content from trusted sources that you can instantly schedule to share with your audience. Another cool feature is the Auto-Emoji, which adds emojies to your posts. Oh, and the Auto-Hashtag is pretty neat, too.
You can check out our features page if you’re interested. https://www.squirrly.co/social-m....
Hope this helps.
Hey everyone, 👋
Thank you for checking us out on Product Hunt! Excited to be here today, making the introductions and sharing some of the highlights from Squirrly Social.
I first became interested in developing a social media automation tool when I realized there was no tool that would allow me to find and schedule interesting content for my brand - not in the amount of time I could afford to spend on this task.
Which was about three minutes every week or so. ⏳
Curating content, creating new posts, manually researching the best hashtags and emoji - all that stuff you need to maintain an active social media presence was eating up too much of my day.
I was reaching a point where I was unable to invest that kind of time on social media anymore. Yet I knew that, from a business standpoint, neglecting social media was not an option either. 😬
Today, I can look back and smile. 😁 That struggle, as frustrating as it was, pushed me to find a solution to these problems that I know many digital marketers face. The best solution (thanks to our testers and early customers who provided valuable feedback).
Now, I even have time to watch a funny cat video every once in a while, but let’s keep this between us, ok?

Can you tell me which networks that you can post on using your tool? I can see Instagram in the example. Do you directly post to Instagram or do you have to use a mobile device and get reminders?
Hey @kim_beasley Squirrly Social works with Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram (for Instagram, you’ll receive a notification on your phone before a post is published, and you’ll have to approve it). Thanks for asking 😊
