SpringRole is enabling everyone’s #VerifiedProfessionalProfile on the Blockchain. It is a decentralised attestation-based professional network built on top of Ethereum. The platform is powered by Blockstack & uses its decentralised storage system of GAIA.

Registered on this platfom probably 2-3 months ago, and it still looks the same on outer. Could have done facelift and made little more impressive. Also, I did all the verification process and yet it shows as 50% verified and the tokens hasn't been rewarded for the verifications done. The support said me these issues would be solved once they would complete moving to their blockchain, but it was more than a month ago, and haven't been solved yet. Plus for last few days, I can't seem to login to my account. Yeah tried different browsers, clear cookies and everything. No success or whatsoever!

Pros:

Feels good to use decentralized professional platform

Cons:

Looks like it's still primitive, regular sign-in error, and unsolved token rewards

David Lewis
Hi, Mahesh. Thanks for the feedback. I've forwarded your issues to the Support team. You can also contact them directly at support (at) springrole (dot) com.
Mahesh Shrestha
@thedavidlewis actually, this is my experience after being in contact with the support!
David Lewis
@alphahunter I escalated this in the Support team and understand they worked through the issue with you. Feel free to reach out to me. I sent you a Message on SpringRole so I'm easy to find and it comes with 500 SPRING tokens.

We are very happy to introduce SpringRole to the ProductHunt community. Our mission with SpringRole is to enable everyone's #VerifiedProfessionalProfile on the Blockchain. SpringRole is the platform where people can view, share and get attestations on their professional profile, thereby creating a verified resume that they can share and use. A user’s educational qualifications and work experience are verified by the organisations themselves and written directly to the blockchain. To assess a user’s skill set, SpringRole has a system of weighted endorsements that let users objectively look at people’s profiles and assess their skill level. Do sign up here and tell us your feedback in the comments below: https://springrole.com/

We started the company in 2014 by matching jobs with resumes using LinkedIn’s API, scaled to $50K MRR and then LinkedIn shut us down. Now you can’t even get access to their API without talking to them. They own all your data and decide what they want to do with it. Decentralization lets users control their data and decide what to do with it. Your profile on SpringRole is something you want to be able to customize, enrich with different modules, get it verified and finally own it. Exciting times ahead!

@kar2905 In a way, LinkedIn shutting you down was the best thing that happened to you 😉You know offer a true decentralized alternative to LinkedIn without sacrificing UX thanks to a clever use of signed data 🙂Very well executed, bravo 💯
Daeshawn Ballard
I like this idea, having worked at a startup where we too were trying to match jobs to resumes "Imagine Careers" albeit a bit differently (we shut down), I can definitely relate to your origin story. I'm glad to see someone from that niche pivot into something cool.

I used a temporary email to set up a basic account and to test the system before doing it for real but, after clicking submit I got a 'something went wrong' message with no indication of what. Would love to join but I need to test before committing.

Pros:

A very useful, possibly powerful, tool to have in your company's pocket.

Cons:

'Something went wrong'. No indication of what that 'something' was.

Abhash Kumar
Hey, sorry about the experience. We block Temporary mail domains by default. That seems to be the issue here. However, request you to write to us at support at springrole dot com and we should be able to unban it to allow you to test it out. 😇

People will no longer require to validate work expertise and experience over and over. Roles, Teams, Advisory, Tokens etc can all be managed and securely validated all while maintaining professional attestation and user's privacy. Potential game changer to faster background checks, dating, hiring, lending, startup team validations, prevent users/investors/partners from being scammed, cheated. Future is here!

Pros:

A decentralized professional attestation platform. A disrupt to traditional centralized platforms.

Cons:

Needs more professionals switching over to Springrole!

Hi there! I'd love to use the product, but I've been fighting with the login a few times now. I can't get past the step where I enter my user name and e-mail address (i.e. https://springrole.com/userinfo ). This is after I've logged in via Blockstack; I click "Continue", yet nothing happens. Help, please.
Abhash Kumar
@niklaspivic666 oh damn! Apologies for this. We are working to fix this. We'd really, really like you to try the SpringRole platform. Can I please request you to write to support at springrole dot com? This will help us get the exact idea about what's breaking. We'll solve this whatever it takes.
Vaibhav Sisinty

I love the UI and import features from LinkedIn.

Pros:

Dope idea and execution.

Cons:

Still needs a lot of users to adopt the product.

Naman Sarawagi

networks owned by the network is a good idea.

Pros:

verified data token incentives

Cons:

none.

I like the concept of the product, and always nice to see fellow Indians do well on PH. I had a few questions I hope you could answer. 1) How do you scale up the platform to say 100k profiles, in the video you mentioned verifying people's jobs/ work experience. If you plan to democratize such verification processes, how do you prevent a cartel or a bunch of illicit users from popping up 3) The login wasn't working for me, can you post the etherscan address for the smart contracts. Though I am not sure if *building on Ethereum* means using the public chain or your own private/ permission-ed implementation of it 4) I understand the idea of *owning* your own data, but if its on the blockchain and publicly viewable, what is stopping someone else from pulling the information and commercializing it? (Though IDK what incentives could there be for this) Anyway wish you best of luck for this!
Abhash Kumar
@varun_agarwal1 Sure, Varun. Find answers below: 1. Great Q. So, we have three levels of verification. L1 is P2P. This requires 3 of your peers from your current (or ex-company) to attest that you indeed worked at the said company. This is done via a domain verification of their email IDs. L2 is when we conduct a thorough BackGround Verification that includes Edu exp., Work exp., PAN, Aadhaar, Address and Court records check. This is enabled by our product - https://springverify.com/ L3 is a company itself attesting all their present and past employees. We are taking L2 as our GTM strategy, feeding into L3. 2. There's no 2nd Q. 3. Oops! Can you help us with what went wrong please? Write to support at springrole dot com and we'll take care of the issue. Here's the contract address: 0xfB0bdC444C8AE7E9b5bEEa5e4D1E8De93879e487 4. Only Public data (that the user chooses to make public) is available. When we say you own your data, that means access to your private messages. We use Blockstack's Gaia which means even we don't have access to anyone's messages. Also, the major change is that the line items (unlike on LinkedIn) are all verified. So, someone buying the information (by its nature) from someone commercializing it will be equivalent to someone paying for public data available on LinkedIn. Not very smart, IMO.

Great and clean UX something that is not there on linkedin. Linkedin keeps spamming me to send invites to all my friends. And linkedin has become more like facebook now. Some random shitty posts keep clogging my feed

SpringRole, it's not just alternative to LinkedIn it is one of its kind. Having a #VerifiedProfessionalProfile on the blockchain with super easy UI anyone one can have their SpringRole profile within a few minutes. With skill endorsement, we are going towards skill-based profile rather than who have more connections. Here is my profile https://springrole.com/nervehammer signup here: https://springrole.com to create your own ;)
Christopher Lee
How does it being on the blockchain make the experience better for me as a user?
Abhash Kumar
@christopher_lee4 if you mean the exact UX itself, then we do concede that the current UX challenges that plague the blockchain ecosystem remain. That means that this is a less-than-ideal experience for those set of users who aren't aware of/have experienced a blockchain UX in the past. However, overall being on the blockchain means. 1. Decentralized - you own your data 2. Verified profiles - brings objective authenticity to edu/work exp. 3. Weighted skill endorsements 4. Token economics ensures actions on platform primed for users, eliminates annoying ads Blockchain = all data once attested is immutable We (and the broader blockchain ecosystem) are working hard on the UX challenge. We hope that won't be an issue some time down the road.
Christopher Lee
@abhash_kumar2 Cool, that makes sense, I think once you overcome that hurdle the value prop will be super strong. By the way seeing as you just launched I have a market research service where for $12 you can ask 100 people a question then follow-up based on how they answered and even interview them! https://scoops.io/ You could ask e.g. "Would you abandon linkedIn for a professional social network that was decentralized?" and then talk to the people who answered "yes". Anyway If you want to give it a shot feel free to sign up and let me know which email you used over Intercom and I'll pass you $12 in free credits. Best of luck otherwise!
Kartik Mandaville
@abhash_kumar2 @christopher_lee4 thats a great service. Who can you interview with this?
Christopher Lee
@abhash_kumar2 @kar2905 You can interview the people who answered, down to the person. So far people have been using Scoops to source interview candidates, and sometimes just to dig deeper on someone for example who left a great comment and they want to learn more from them!

The future of professional networks. Harnessing the transparency and permission-based nature of blockchain to solve a real world problem, SpringRole is one of the more promising DApps out there!
Ali Taheri

I generally believe in owning your own data. And this would be a good alternative to LinkedIn, I just wished there were more integrations. All in good time I guess.

Pros:

Simple UI with great UX

Cons:

Sign-ins hang sometime and you have to start over

Nitin Sharma
The team has done a great job simplifying the user experience for the average user, and building growth hacking tools like advisor verification (given the widespread problem of people claiming advisory roles).
Abhraneil Chandra
Having your professional profile validated on the blockchain brings about a seamless way to authenticate and showcase your work experience, and opens the door to a new era which eliminates the need for time consuming background checks. We have worked hard to make the skill endorsements meaningful and used a weighting algorithm for optimum authenticity. Please do try the product and tell us your feedback.
Nikhil D Prince

I would like to recommend this to each and every individual as it backs by blockchain technology with real uses case. This will definitely helps both sides of platform to avoid spams and right selection of candidates and represent their actual profile rather than just putting fake information. Best Regards NikhilDPrince

Pros:

It's technology and features. Usecase. Timely updates. Strong team. User verification process. And more

Cons:

As of now as users growing so one cannot directly say something is wrong. Team is doing really good.

@ivivekkm ....with Neat UI. (Impressive work by the team)
Keshav R Narla

Would love to see #BCH used if possible

Pros:

Its a decentralized likedIn alternative, born and bred from India

Cons:

More people should know about this tool!
