Spot is a virtual office loaded with the collaboration and communication functionality a high-performing team needs: voice and video, screen-sharing, and chat all at the team's fingertips.
@ashbhoopathy you aren't the first person to ask for a sales gong :P. We can definitely add that.
When it comes to culture, one of the major things that Spot enables is to allow the space to be completely customized to reflect the values and things the organization cares about. The gong above is an example of this, but can also include things like putting company values on posters/screens in the space, items that reflect memes and company personality, and space design that reflects openness and inclusive meetings. We also support wearables and other items that allow people to interact in very unique ways.
We also do have a small CSM team that is more than willing to work with people to optimize their workplace and create the space of their dreams :).
You had me when I virtually facepalmed with my avatar. But for real, I love how this product feels so intuitive yet realistic. Can't wait to try it out with more people!
This is so cool! I've been really missing the office. So easy to use too. Could this be used for a startup accelerator type atmosphere with multiple teams and mentors?
@kylelaws0n The community angle is definitely an avenue we're thinking about. Basically allowing a virtual "WeWork" style space where multiple startups of an accelerator could work out of the same office. We benefited a lot in the early days of our start-up journey (both in Y-Combinator and TechStars) working side-by-side other teams, helping each other work through problems and grow.
@kylelaws0n This is definitely a powerful use case for Spot! One of the things we are trying to do really well is to bridge async (team chat) and real-time interactions with voice and video in a really meaningful way. For a startup accelerator type atmosphere I could see having an office with many rooms and some common lounge and meeting areas. This could be similar to a coworking space. Alternatively, we also support having multiple floors/spaces within an organization that could be used for different companies/events.
Hi Product Hunt!
I am Gordon, co-founder of Spot. As a kid, some of my most meaningful relationships and experiences were forged through online gaming (UO anyone?). A big part of this wasn’t necessarily the game itself, but was instead the sense of place and community afforded through the shared environment.
As an adult, many of my most meaningful relationships have come from my work environment. When working remotely or in a distributed setting, however, I find this not to be the case. Existing tools such as Slack and Zoom simply don’t cut it. Individual productivity may benefit, but the connection to coworkers is fundamentally lacking.
As a leader and someone who has founded and built a large company, I have experienced first-hand how critical it is to have a highly engaged team. This affects everything from communication to culture and company values. Moreover, there is a lack of innovation that spontaneous whiteboard sessions and more fluid communication styles afford.
Spot is the culmination of a year of research and development to recreate a highly engaged workplace with smooth and natural interactions. Spot is a lightweight virtual office that enables the highest performing organizations and communities to communicate more effectively and increase engagement. (Not to mention, it is also a lot of fun!).
Today, for Product Hunt users, we have turned on self-signup for the first time ever! Please give it a shot and invite your team or friends and let me know what you think!
Love the idea of intersecting a virtual world with the ebb and flow of co-located work. This has great potential for both improving the remote experience and, with the integration of team development tools, becoming a platform for supporting team effectiveness.
@jenni_virta Thanks Jenni! I've had quite a few conversations with sales leaders like yourself and Spots applicability for a sales team. DM me if you want to chat about it!
Looking GREAT @gordon_hempton and @weshather ! Been excited to see the reveal! Not so sure I needed to see @andrew_forkner 's ugly mug, though! :) I have a few teams I can't wait to try this out with. Let me know where I can help!!
Our company, Bewave, has converted to 100% virtual offices right before the pandemic and we were looking for a solution; We tried a few things but then we found this product and pardon my cheap pun but this definitely "hit the spot" and Bewave has found a new home. So far so good and I think we are here to stay and grow our startup here for the long run :D
Very enjoyable product, the staff candidly admitted having a little bit too much fun sometimes and fun is much needed since we never really work face to face in real life anyway :P
