Ten months after v1, we're super excited to share Sonauto v2 (Beta) with the world. Our new site is beautiful and includes all of the features you'd expect from a full music platform -- following, comments, playlists, and groups (like subreddits for music). Our new model can beat the quality and diversity of paid models from much larger companies while remaining completely free and unlimited. Best of all, the model isn't done training yet and we're continuing to update it with significant improvments every few days. The best way to experience Sonauto is to hear it for yourself, so visit our site and listen through the Staff Picks, then try prompting your own song! -- https://sonauto.ai/ Currently all research/development/training of the model and most of the website (shoutout to our summer intern Lucas) was completed over the last few months by myself and my cofounder Hayden. A unique part of our process is constant user feedback. We've been very open with our community throughout experimentation/training and funneled their extensive feedback in order to make our v2 model as fun as possible. For example, we're super proud of the audio quality but especially the diversity of our model. One of the most constant complaints we heard about our largest competitor was that their model turns every prompt into generic modern pop music, so we made sure our model could produce diverse results across thousands of genres, decades, and styles. We'd love to answer your questions related to our dev process!

So far the fav product i have come across on ProductHunt , Just loved the concept on how Sonauto brings the creative soul inside you by giving your thoughts and expressions a wing ! Just created a song out of a short prompt : https://sonauto.ai/song/3cc5aecd... & i am speechless , If i could have rated it somewhere then a whole 10/10 from concept to execution to everything of sunauto ! Lovely Product !!!

Wow, this is the most exciting project I’ve came across on this platform. I just quickly tried out some of the lyrics I had saved in notes and it already made a banger. Will be trying this out more tonight. Does this work with any other languages (Spanish, Russian) ?
Ryan Tremblay
@sodaluv awesome! Yes, Spanish should work great, check out many of the songs from one of our beta testers: https://sonauto.ai/song/d83d05b7... Russian might be a little tougher due to less data but may also work. Let us know how it goes!

Sounds impressive but is it really better than the big name paid models?

Max Comperatore
im using suno, why should i try this
Ryan Tremblay
@maxcomx our main post has more details but a big focus for our model has been diversity (support for more styles without making everything sound like pop, and more surprising and interesting songs) and audio quality (esp. better vocals). Also, no credits system to ruin your flow.

@zaptrem model sounds great, well done guys! When looking at your terms it seems they are extremely hostile to your users - users don't even own the stuff they make and can't use it any way commercially. How would you compete with Suno and Udio where users own the content they make on paid plans. Will you offer a paid plan with a commercial license? Or are you taking the API route? Definately a big market for a solid AI music API

These guys are the real deal! They built all of this from scratch, including the model, with a team of just 2. And, magically, after all that training, their model does feel state-of-the-art. Congrats guys!
Lina Colucci
Wow! This is unreal. The voices are the best AI-generated voices I've ever heard. You guys nailed the "diverse styles/genres" goal. I'm speechless...
Otman Alami
What languages are available for the songs?
Ryan Tremblay
@otman_alami Depends on how many songs are in that language. Languages from most to least frequent in training set: en es pt fr de it ru pl ja sv tr nl fi no ko da sr cs Note it drops off pretty hard after the first 2 and again after the first ~5.

@zaptrem Arab !?

Do you have video tutorial available for this?
Olena Variacheva
I happily recommend Sonauto v2 Beta! It is an amazing app that allows you to create full-fledged songs based on your prompts, melodies, or lyrics. It's perfect for those who want to quickly generate an original song, whether it's for a birthday or other event.

I am mostly interested in using my own lyrics - for two reasons: I do write them and the lyrics I have seen from the OTHER AI song makers are tripe. First attempt confused the hell out of the machine by not giving enough text I think, just went weird not singing what was showing and then when tried to extend, ignoring the new text.

However second attempt was a full lyric, three verses. The result was not that close to the parameters of the prompt in terms of style but was really really good. I then grabbed the result - not by "download" which did not work but by making a video and stripping the sound. Then I orchestrated this in Logic. I love the result. This kind of inter-operability with existing musical practice will not make you more money, but it is a way forward that is non-trivial, meaningful to musicians not just the wishful amateur. I am not being contemptuous of non-musicians doing whatever with such tools - it is revolutionary and meaningful even if the results are variable.

I have more ideas about how this path might work if you are interested in that direction. Or you can just do the same as Udio etc but better (you are already better) and then monetise that. Why not both ?

Questions: Is my now altered, orchestrated version my song? Can it be released? How do I get to use the same "singer" (voice model) for another song? Is there a way you could accept audio (song parts) input as well as text prompt?

UPDATE

Next attempt using a lengthy, rather literary poem/lyric produced a fair bit of spoken word, seeking to fit the word into the 1'30 first pass limit. Interesting but not what I wanted - though the English accent male version I could use. Then broke it in half - first 18 lines as two "verses" - this was more successful - "orchestral song" taking the result very much in music theatre territory. Unfortunately extending and trying to add the second half of words (another 17 lines) the response was to rush through them as spoken word!! So I just made another "new" song with the second half words. Bothe versions of this were male voice (whereas first was one man one woman) and really good. Second of two options included some gobbledegook but I quite liked it. It got back onboard track then weird again but the climax with big male voice harmonies was impressive and truly weird. This could be the beginning of the first AI Broadway show. The first attempt is also good with no glitches:

https://sonauto.ai/song/2df1b36b-5af6-45fd-939c-779fd67e829c

However my attempts to extend just the music repeatedly added more words - not mine - not so great, so this just ends abruptly for now.

I am generally impressed and boggled.

However to give you useful feedback the handling of lyrics is awkward - extending and editing them is not intuitive and unpredictable in effect. The response to original lyrics is variable - some hallucination and weirdness, some genuinely beautiful and creative melodising. Amazing really. Also I could seem to have a prompt AND specify styles and put in custom lyrics - they are separate pages and did not always "stick". Consequently I chose the custom lyrics over experimenting with prompts which I REALLY need to do.

Cheers. I will eventually post these results somewhere.
