What an incredible project. Good on you Robbi.
This is exactly what we need for our friends, family and acquaintances.
I can’t applaud your momentous effort enough. Great work!
It will be even more invaluable if it makes it outside of merely the US.
Thrilled to see a unique first of its kind app like this make it to release. This is such a needed resource for the trans community.
I’m one of the organizers of HackOut where Solace started and I can say from day one Robbi and Patrick have been so passionate about this project. They got a standing ovation during their winning pitch at HackOut and they have been hard at work over the past 9 months to get this out.
Amazing work y’all. Can’t wait to see Solace grow and expand its resource library.
Seems like a nice app and as far as I know, there's never been anything like it. It could certainly be useful to a lot of people.
Sadly, it doesn't appear to be available outside the US :/ I understand the app offers instructions on how to make legal changes depending on the person's state, but you could just omit that in the international version...
It's a shame to region lock such an app :)
@anna_0x I hear you, although the reason it's region locked is a bit more complicated. The information, especially the legal and medical goals are very specific to the US. We wanted to make the information relevant and credible, which required a certain level of specificity that wouldn't translate to other regions of the world. Even the lifestyle goals are specific to the US.
We're currently working on Solace MX (a version for Mexico) and will be working to expand the app to other countries as quickly as resources permit. Do you mind sharing which country you'd like to see Solace in?
@anna_0x@robbi_katherine_anthony
I believe you’d have no problems connecting with supporting people and organisations of all countries to sort out its respective differences and requirements.
I have a good friend who works within the LGBTQ community down here and would be happy to make a connection (in New Zealand).
@robbi_katherine_anthony So glad to see your app! I've not seen anything like it and am sure that many will find it useful. Please tell us a bit about your team - how many, roles? Wishing you the best of luck.
Thanks for the kind words @amliawellness! We're a team of two. I'm the Executive Director and Patrick McHugh is our Executive Editor. Over the last nine months we've worked with a number of foundations, donors, and volunteers in varying capacities, but the day-to-day work is done by myself and Patrick.
We've worked on a few other start-ups before, but this is our first foray into high-tech nonprofit work. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
Hi there Product Hunt! I'm the Executive Director of Solace. After eight months of hard work, we're so excited to finally release Solace to the general public. We got our start at HackOut (https://www.swhackout.org) and it's been a really unique experience to build tech as a nonprofit. Happy to answer any questions as time permits!
