Simone is a free and open-source Python CLI-script that helps you create blog posts from your YouTube videos along with adding multiple context-aware screenshots from that video.
Hey Product Hunters! I'm beyond excited to introduce you to Simone. A free and open-source Python-based CLI tool that repurposes your YouTube videos by converting them into blog posts along with multiple context-aware screenshots. π€
It all started with the following tweet:
"Fun LLM challenge that I'm thinking about: take my 2h13m tokenizer video and translate the video into the format of a book chapter (or a blog post) on tokenization. -- Andrej Karpathy, X/Twitter, Feb 2024
This is what inspired me to build Simone. Although, it started off as a simple challenge, I quickly realized that Simone had multiple use-cases. For example, the blog posts can be used to enhance SEO, archive YouTube videos as blog posts thereby saving on storage and so on. π―
However, I wanted to keep it free and open-source for everyone to be able to use it, and build upon it. And the initial feedback that I received from the open-source community is pretty overwhelming! Within the first 5 days of its release, Simone received 80 GitHub Stars and 5 Forks. It was only evident that I would release it on Product Hunt, the community which I have been a part off for a long time.
I'd love your feedback π
congrats on the launch, rajtilak and team! it's impressive to see how you've leveraged andrej karpathy's challenge into simone. the open-source community's response speaks volumes about the tool's potential. have you considered integrating any additional features in the future to further enhance the user experience?
@mashy Yes, I have plans to Dockerize this tool. If I can raise funds, I can make it into an app. Also, extend support for regular videos rather than only YouTube videos.
