Hey Product Hunters 😸 Me and some friends started playing HQ Trivia back here in India roughly a month ago and immediately fell in love with it. A live host, a bit of comedy, the rush of adrenaline, and a chance to win real cash - what’s not to love? We felt that this could potentially be the future of gameshows or who knows, even live TV? With video and data consumption booming in India, India’s love for Kaun Banega Crorepati (Who wants to be a millionaire) which still has the highest TRPs on Indian television more than a decade on, and the allure of real money, we knew a localised version in Indian languages could be a huge hit as well. Having worked at some of India’s bigger startups, and built more than a handful of products on the side, we immediately went to work on Showtime! We initially launched with a text-only MVP couple weeks back and are starting to roll out live video to all users in small batches starting today. The questions on Showtime are about stuff Indians love - Bollywood, cricket, religion, food and politics 😂 We’ve a couple of Youtubers onboard as hosts. We have done zero marketing so far - yet we are closing in on a thousand people playing live each night and our engagement, retention and referral numbers are pretty high! We’re working on adding music, some cool animations, supporting more Indian languages and our iOS app at the moment - you can expect some great updates in the next couple of weeks!
