Shift Card is quite the accomplishment! (The regulatory hurdles you must have been through. Dang.) Can it be used to pay for recurring transactions? Also, the website says that a Shift Card transaction has the same consumer protections as any debit card...who provides those? What are these exactly as you define them? Have you gotten much criticism for bringing the block chain into a decidedly traditional, not anonymous commerce system?
@megnakamura I'm *really* curious to learn how Shift works. Shift allows you to spend not just bitcoin via VISA acceptance, but ostensibly any store of value (e.g. Dwolla). What can you share about what's under the hood?
Excited to try this out and love that you've integrated with Coinbase. Can you describe the relationship with VISA and/or Coinbase? Do you act as a card issuer? This is awesome!
This is awesome! Odd it isn't available to Illinois residents yet... wonder what the reason is behind that. Wish there was an option to be notified when it was available in my area. Great idea though, can't wait till I can get my hands on one.
Congrats on the launch! I've been watching each new bitcoin debit card launch and each has missed something. Either UI to track purchases is lacking, the card isn't well supported with merchants or has high fees.
This has it all! Amazing job!
@eugeneotto@megnakamura@charley@javacuate - would love to hear your story!
How has the development process been? This seems like a HUGE deal - what does it mean to you?!
@bentossell It's been a long road! Here's our first post, from over a year ago: https://www.producthunt.com/tech... We're lucky to have great partners in Coinbase and Dwolla who have helped us get to where we are, and are super excited about this first step in shifting how people think about their money. Have you ordered a card??
