Having looked at the recruitment space for a while now - there's definitely a huge need for deriving more information from recommendations. The resume or LinkedIn profile itself is just too small, and too 'gamed' a data point for recruitment today.
It's really interesting having all of the recommendations pulled into one spot, as a tool to show how employable someone is - I'd love to have some information on how rich the recommendations are and learn if any recruiters have used these recommendation profiles to get people to interview!

Thanks for the feedback on how we can emphasize how rich and useful they are for recruiting. Our customers find that we're useful in prioritizing high match candidates, as well as protecting against false negatives. Some of my favorite stories are about how our recommendation profiles changes a hiring decision from a no into a yes, and the company ends up with a great hire!

We’re excited to share our newest product with you all, Searchlight a Colleague - a unique, powerful way to help those impacted by covid layoffs land a job.
We launched Searchlight, our core B2B platform on PH last year, and we’ve been improving our intelligent referencing software to help companies make better, faster hiring decisions. We now count companies like TrueCar, Udemy, and MasterClass as customers.
But then the world changed in the last few months. We saw our customers and friends alike affected by layoffs, and our Searchlight team wanted to help. In the past year, we’ve seen the power of reference information to help highly qualified candidates showcase their strengths, work styles, behavioral fit beyond their LinkedIn and resume, early in the hiring process.

These are the same questions that are trusted by dozens of companies to make hiring decisions on our enterprise platform.
🚀 Share your recommendation with up to 5 Searchlight partner companies. It’ll go directly to their talent teams, no resume drop black box
Our partners include Canva, Discord, and Front and are actively hiring and excited to receive direct referrals from Searchlight.
🤝 Connect your LinkedIn network, and we’ll identify the people who are actively hiring for a direct introduction.
We’re keeping track of a database of 1000+ companies who are hiring, pulled from
public lists and LinkedIn postings. We will surface people in your LinkedIn network who work at any of these companies, and help you to choose who will receive your Searchlight recommendation.

Really cool concept! Love how much it holistically increases the profile of the candidate -- would be interested in seeing this expand to other application markets, ie medical school residency matching or faculty member sponsorship during the PhD application process.
@michelle_huang4 Those are really great ideas, a lot of my best friends are in med school right now and I've heard about how high stakes the Match is... I would love to explore those applications as we develop this product!
We use Searchlight with all our job candidates and it really helps us understand the candidates’ strengths and weaknesses better than a CV!

Love that you make writing recommendations not just EASIER but also more EFFECTIVE. I think writing an effective rec is definitely a skill, and in fact a poorly written one is more harm than good. Thanks for making this.
@norman_tran Thanks Norman! Completely agree - we did user interviews before building this to understand the experience and motivations of the recommenders. We realized it actually takes quite a lot of effort to write a good recommendation, especially one that is balanced and unbiased. We designed our product to decrease the effort, because the words of a past colleague is so valuable. Please let me know if you have any feedback to make it even better!
