Our goal is really to bring end-2-end encryption into your everyday tools without changing your habits with a very simple UX, it's indeed very important especially now ;)

We do plan on supporting other browsers! We'll start with Firefox, and then we'll work on Safari :).
This application will permanently edit your copy of Slack to inject unknown code into it. DO NOT INSTALL. I will be working with Slack staff today to see what we can do about this application.

@paulcbetts We are 100% transparent with our users. The patch is only on user demand, and 100% reversible (as you can see in the snippet, we save a copy of the original). If you want to discuss with us about our code, implementation, contact us directly at contact@seald.io .
@mehdikouhen @seald Saying you're "Installing the Seald extension" is not at all the same as "Binary patching someone else's application and re-signing it with your key".
@paulcbetts @seald We are most definitely NOT re-signing anything. You may be right about the wording, we'll change that to be clearer about what it is doing.

Your website is causing my powerful work desktop's Chrome to freeze and stutter. What js or other things are you running on it?
@vicky_buddie Oh I'm sorry about that, actually not so much, it's a static website, the only complexity is a vue.js component for the demo.
I haven't experienced anything like it on my not so powerful laptop on Chrome, Firefox or Safari. Are you sure it's our website?
@t_rebours Yep, just the website. Everything else on my desktop is running smooth. Only the tab that has the seald.io page loaded is stuttering.

@jamescampbell Technically, it's not very different (although we do plan on adding a lot of features which would not be possible with GPG, such as message revocation).
The main point is the UX and the integration :)

We are thankful for all the feedbacks our beta testers already gave us. We've heard you and we've built a Slack desktop compatibility. Thanks for building the Seald community with us 👌.
Some of our users use Seald to protect everything (files/messages), others preferring to use it less frequently (only sensitive data).
One question for you: Do you think you need encryption? If you think you have nothing to hide, you may be wrong...

Not a bad implementation of GPG for the social media age. Worth checking out- although I am concerned about the lack of resolution on the binary patching interaction with Slack as mentioned by @paulcbetts!
@vijaymichalik Thank you! As we said in the thread with @paulcbetts, the patch is reversible and only done on user demand (and is not a binary patch per se). We are going to tweak the wording to make what we are actually doing clearer to the user, and would be happy to resolve any further concern by working with them!
