Scriborg is a fully customizable novel writing template built in Notion that provides writers and aspiring writers structure and guidance. 1. Outlining and story-boarding 2. Character arc planning and templates 3. Research center and linked databases
Cool idea. I already use Notion to organize characters, research, etc.. but what you have done looks promising. Question: I used to do my writing inside Notion previously and the limitations (due to Notion) so I reverted back to Word.I wasn't looking for fancy formatting options, but it wasn't ideal. Were you able to do anything about the actual writing experience?
Hi @aung_thura2 ! Thanks for your question, it is very on point! I personally write in Notion, I have everything I need (I just switch the font type to Serif because, for some reason, it helps me get more inspired!)
But I know it is not ideal for some writers, so to your problem, I've seen writers using the template to focus on organizing and structuring. And they copy and paste their word file in Notion to have it all centralized. (or G-doc, Medium, or any text editor basically!). This way you can still work in Word and benefit from the template to work on your storyline.
I'd say the real value of Scriborg is the organization, the possibility to develop a powerful plot, to link your characters to chapters and to your research. Writing can be done separately in another tool if you don't like Notion text editor 🙂
@quentin_parizot Thank you! I just went and got it! I have a fairly rudimentry system on Notion for Characters, Places, Timelines as well as a whole bunch of notes. Looking forward to trying this out.
Always interesting to see another product in this space. What makes you stand out compared to Scrivener and Campfire? Anything particularly helpful for those of us who take long breaks between writing sessions?
@aliaaa thanks for your message! I've tried Scrivener and was a bit frustrated with the complexity of the tool, although it has a lot of features. The main advantage of Scriborg is its flexibility. Since it is built in Notion, it means you can plan around with views and databases, you can add your own pages, galleries, or tables. Also, I like that it is connected to my global personal to-do list in Notion, which helps me organize and centralize all the things I do. Last but not least, I really enjoy the timeline view to work on the chronology and visualize what happens to my characters and the whole story.
Regarding your question about long breaks, I haven't thought of something specific so far!

I just gave your product an upvote :)
I really like what your product is trying to achieve.
I am currently building an elite slack community/network that connects early-stage ProductHunt founders with themselves and also with investors.
If that interests you, kindly use this link to join the waiting room in slack and I’ll ping you from there to get you in.

I write and I know how demanding it is to finish a book. Thanks to this product, I can centralize and structure all my thoughts and ideas. I can create inspiring characters and get guidance and tips. I can also link my research to chapters and build a plot in an easy drag-and-drop way. It helps me a lot to finish my novels, I hope it can help you as well.
