Automatically create step-by-step guides for any process. Simply hit “record” and Scribe will generate a detailed guide complete with screenshots based on your actions, ready to share with colleagues, customers, and friends.
Wow, if Scribe works as advertised it’s gonna be the biggest time saver for service providers. 😍 I’ll need to make some how-to guides soon and wasn’t looking forward to the boring process, but now I look forward to it!
Question for the ?makers: judging by the examples on your website, it seems like Scribe is more geared towards sending personalized how-to links on a case-by-case basis. Would it also be suited for making a bigger how-to guide with multiple sections? Also, is there a way to export the guides in PDF or something to share with others?
@anna_0x Hi Anna — thanks for the questions! Yes, Scribes can be edited with multiple sections. We also have some features in the work to make combining related Scribes easier. More on that soon!
In additional to shareable links, Scribe supports exporting to PDF, HTML, and Markdown. Do those seem like a good fit for your work?
👋 Hey Product Hunt!
Thank you @maccaw for hunting us a second time around!
We owe so much to this community 🙏. We first launched Scribe (then called Scribe by Cursive) right here in June 2020. We had no idea what to expect or where it would take us; we just knew that we were solving a real problem we had faced as a team, and wanted to see if others felt the same way.
The answer we heard from this community was a resounding YES (with lots of ideas on how we could make it better!). We took your comments and went back to building. We’ve been heads down for the last 15 months and now here we are —
Over a year later, we’re so thrilled to take the wraps off of Scribe 2.0 and share it with you! We’ve invested so much in incorporating your feedback to make the new Scribe experience the easiest way to "share how." We built Scribe because we want everyone to be able to do, and share, their best work.
Scribe makes it effortless to capture and share your know-how. At this point, Scribes have been shared hundreds of thousands of times. The median Scribe only takes only 54 seconds to create!
Any time someone asks “how do I….?” - rather than writing out step-by-step instructions, taking screenshots, hopping on a zoom, or ignoring their question (😜), simply shoot them a Scribe.
You all made this possible with your support and feedback on Scribe 1.0. We are SO excited to share Scribe 2.0 with you now. This is the foundation for our future, and we have big plans for what we will build next on top of it.
We can’t wait to hear what you think.
We're hosting an informal AMA at 9am PST today! Come hang out with us and chat all things tech, product, and startups. Join us on zoom here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/897602...
@singhamardeep not just yet - when you create a scribe we generate a unique link for it, and that link stays the same regardless of what updates you make to the scribe!
Yes, that I understood. But other than providing support and knowledge to users, Tutorials and How To Guide also add real good SEO traffic. Using a link other than your own domain would be losing that benefit.
Great product nonetheless. And I am sure, custom domains will surely happen some day. All the best.
I created one test Scribe and it was smooth.
Congrats on the launch, excited to try Scribe 2.0!
I love how Scribe allows you to customise every aspect of your video guides and how easy it makes creating documentation!
Great tool, I remember using this when it first appeared on product hunt.
What’s your current pricing?
Also, aside from being able to record outside of the browser, how do you see yourselves compared to Tango?
@jonbstrong Hey Jonathan, thanks for your continued support and praise! 🙏
You can see our current pricing plans on our website: https://scribehow.com/pricing/
As for Tango, we always appreciate some healthy competition—it makes us improve! 💪 Stuff we offer besides the desktop recorder is process maps, guide curation and organization through workspaces, teams, and folders, custom branding, smart redaction (and other privacy features), as well as a slew of enterprise-focused features, such as role-based access control (RBAC). You can see a detailed comparison of our plans on the link above. Feel free to make a account and test-drive the Pro plan for 3 months with the promo code "PHLOVE"! 🎁
It’s been awesome to see the evolution of Scribe over the past year, and a pleasure to be hunting Scribe again. Scribe 2.0 has a sleek new look, introduces some thoughtful new features, and is even more intuitive to use.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Sharing what you know > keeping it to yourself. This is the fastest, easiest, and--dare I say it--most fun way of creating a how-to guide. Check it out.
Hey guys congrats on launching! Product looks awesome i just tested it. Couple of things:
1. I think (I might have missed it) you don't recommend to pin scribe to chrome apps. Chrome now hides new apps by default (right?) and I've seen a few chrome extensions recommend to pin them with a notification kind of message. Not sure whether this is a real issue, but I always find it confusing after installing - Maybe worth mentioning to new users?
2. I run a blog, and we do a lot of software reviews. I can definitely see a massive use-case for bloggers, but I'd need to export the output as HTML. Aaaaand I just saw this is a pro feature. Amazing!
Scribe is one of those rare tools that gives your team superpowers. It truly 10x's productivity for customer success and technical documentation teams.
Love Scribe! You can tell the team took an incredibly loving brush to this update - the new record + guides experience is pure magic. Congrats @jennifersmith6@tiffanyz and team on this launch! Excited to see where Scribe goes
This looks amazing, Jennifer. We've got an onboarding process in place but this might make it a lot cleaner and easier to update when new features are added.
Upvoted and we're checking this out.
Great progress and updates. Slick and fast. And so much better than having a desktop full of screenshots the wrong sizes trying to put together a guide in word or google docs.
First time hearing about Scribe and I’m already impressed with the simple yet useful tool they’ve built. As someone working in tech I’ve encountered the problem of needing to show a step by step guide countless times. I’ll leave a more in-depth review once I got a chance to try everything it offers.
Congrats on 2.0 launch! Keep up the good work!
@kai_feng so glad to share this tool with you, and thank you for the thoughtful comment! Hope you get a chance to try out Scribe and let us know what you think!
