Explore high-quality commercial open source tools (proprietary SaaS alternatives) on Scoutflo Atlas - for free. Get a quick trial of OSS products, and deploy them on your own cloud within minutes! 💙
Scoutflo is on a mission to increase the awareness and adoption of open-source software products.
I’m Vedant, a co-founder at Scoutflo. I’ve been in the Product space for 4 years, and have also handled Sales for popular SaaS solutions – leading to a deep understanding of a buyer’s journey.
Today we're launching Scoutflo Atlas - A marketplace for commercial open-source software [COSS] products.
Commercial open source software combines the flexibility of open source software with the reliability of proprietary software.
We started working on this idea due to 3 key problem statements:
1. Open source products have a strikingly low adoption rate.
2. Proprietary SaaS products are expensive and have vendor lock-ins.
3. Onboarding and maintaining an OSS tool is usually not a hassle-free experience.
We talked to different stakeholders in the open-source space to learn about their challenges.
We narrowed down that many OSS Products, despite their quality and competence – do not get the kind of reach, visibility and distribution they deserve. And most businesses are not aware of dependable OSS tools they can include in their tech stack.
Our 1st step towards solving this is today’s launch - Scoutflo Atlas, with 200+ COSS alternatives to proprietary SaaS tools.
With Scoutflo Atlas, we want to:
- Create a centralized place to find high-quality open source products
- Make open source products more discoverable
- Significantly reduce SaaS spend by switching to managed self-hosted solutions
You’re at the right place if you are a:
- Commercial Open Source Company
- Business exploring Open Source
- Open Source Enthusiast (Maintainer/Contributor)
As a Business:
- Create your OSS product stack as per your budget, use case, etc.
- Eliminate complicated steps and simplify onboarding of OSS tools.
- Easily try out a tool even before self-hosting (sandbox version).
As an OSS Founder:
- Monetize the self-hosted version.
- Exponentially increase active users.
- Manage and maintain your product content with a dedicated CMS.
We also want to help non-developers (without DevOps or cloud experience) to try out and experience open source products.
Psst… We’re also launching early access of
Scoutflo Sandbox - To get a quick, free trial of selected open source products.
Scoutflo Deploy (Beta) - A frictionless onboarding tool to self-host open-source products on your own cloud.
While the world has just started to realize the unbounded potential of open source technology – Scoutflo wants to make it mainstream.
We’re starting with creating a frictionless experience for discovering, onboarding, and maintaining open source products 🚀
Your feedback is super valuable to us! ✨
Explore the platform, search and compare products, share with your community, and let us know what you think!
Open Source FTW 💙
For a while people have been asking if opensource softwares were secure, reliable or worth trusting. Just look at the success of tools like Airbyte , PostHog or Rowy , all viable open source solutions.
There are now many open source alternatives and it could be hard to navigate them, and find the one that works for you.
This is what Scoutflo is offering.
@picsoung We genuinely appreciate your support! Ever since we discovered the increase in high-quality commercial open-source products, we knew it is the right time for businesses to start evaluating alternatives to their proprietary SaaS stack.
We believe that with Scoutflo Atlas & Scoutflo Deploy, businesses will be able to find the right product fit and self-host it seamlessly.
Looking forward to making commercial open-source mainstream 🚀
The world has finally started to realize the potential of open-source software
About time to fast-track this movement!
Looking forward to seeing the growth of Scoutflo!
I'm a simple man—I see open source, and I upvote.
Seriously though, love this initiative. I actually have a public directory of what I call CookieSlayers (cookieslayers.com), which are companies, products, and services that respect user privacy. All of them are open source (as of this writing). They're not all commercial products, but many are. We can probably discover a few more to add to both Scoutflo and CookieSlayers.
On a separate but related note, thanks for including Baserow 🙌
Baserow is super enterprise-ready for those who are unable to use Airtable. With Baserow, you can self-host and be in compliance with your legal/compliance teams for storing sensitive data, build plugins or apps on top of Baserow, and have unlimited storage limits.
Be on the lookout for Documenso (DocuSign alternative) from @eltimuro and Webstudio (Webflow alternative) from @oleg008 👀
Here's to open source 🍻
@hiramfromthechi Thank you so much for the super thoughtful comment, means a lot! Love the fact that you're big on open source, that is something we truly believe will become mainstream in the coming future!
Open Source FTW!💙
@peer_rich Cal.com is one of the main reasons we fell in love with Commercial Open Source products. We look forward to working with you and helping COSS products become the new normal for businesses moving forward!
Congratulations on the successful launch 🎉
There are numerous incredible COSS (Commercial Open Source Software) alternatives to proprietary software, but discoverability and knowledge pose the most significant challenges. I firmly believe this product will tackle those issues and encourage more people to embrace Open Source. I have prior experience with similar products, and so far, this one stands out as the best in class due to its simplicity and the depth of information it provides.
Great work, team!
@pradumnasaraf Thank you SO much, Pradumna! This genuinely means the world to us. We're constantly iterating to enhance user experience and simplify the process of discovering reliable OSS products. Highly appreciate your genuine appreciation and support! 💙✨
@marta_serrano_gili Glad that you find value in an open-source marketplace, we genuinely hope you find the right product for your use case and deploy it seamlessly on your preferred cloud infra.
@marta_serrano_gili thanks for the support Marta. That's our moto to make it easy for open source tools to get discovered, evaluated and deployed easily.
@marta_serrano_gili@atharva_bondre1 That's something which is highly in demand now. There are plenty of great alternatives out there but hard to discover.
@timur_ercan1 COSS is definitely going to become the new normal as we will see businesses switch to open-source alternatives to their proprietary stack!
Let's rebuild the world in COSS together 🚀
@harish_uthayakumar Thank you so much for your support! We hope the BlueLearn community can find some good open-source products to contribute to and upskill themselves 💙✨
Congratulations ScoutFlo team for the amazing release! ❤️🚀 A tool I had always looked forward to and definitely will make "OPEN SOURCE FTW" real!
This made me time-travel to the problem statement the team (and I was working with too back then) about deploying open source projects, using it and even get desired support from them; and I think after few years of hustle, this has come true!
Kudos team, made me feel so happy how it has come out! To the moon 🚀
@soham_shah2 Thank you so much for the support! Glad to hear that this launch made you travel back in time to the problem statement, fun times haha! Open Source FTW! 💙
With proprietary software becoming more and more expensive and restrictive, it's refreshing to see a platform like Scoutflo that provides an alternative through high-quality commercial open-source products. Thanks for making this possible, Scoutflo team!
I am looking forward to more updates from your end. Thanks.
Finding an open-source tool that offers solutions to day-to-day tasks can be daunting. I like that Scoutflo is bringing more awareness to open source tools and making it easy to identify and adopt them.
As a founder of an open-source software company, I'm thrilled to see Scoutflo Atlas launch. This platform is a great resource for businesses that are looking to adopt open source software, and it's also a great way to increase the visibility and adoption of OSS products.
I'm particularly excited about Scoutflo Atlas's ability to help businesses self-host open source software. This is a great way to save money and gain more control over your software stack. Additionally, Scoutflo Atlas makes it easy to find and compare different open source products, which can save businesses a lot of time and effort.
I'm confident that Scoutflo Atlas will be a valuable resource for businesses of all sizes. I'm excited to see how this platform helps to grow the open source community.
Keep up the good work, Scoutflo Team!
@mendorshikh Thank you so much for the support! Looking forward to helping businesses realise the power of Open Source, discover the right COSS products for their use-cases, and save them a lot of time and effort while deploying and maintaining them! Open Source for the win! 💙
@mendorshikh That's so sweet of you. It's a great and detailed feedback and it's really helpful. You have been supporting us constantly for the start of the Scoutflo. Looking forward to way more collaborations.
Being the engineering lead at Stratzy (a Indian fintech startup) and only devops guy in the team I am well aware with the level of complexity that goes into deploying and self hosting open source softwares and maintaining it overtime as we ourselves believe in FOSS and self host almost everything in our tech stack. Being an early user of scoutflo atlas I have tested the product to deploy various FOSS on our AWS VPC and can confirm that it just works fine with super fast deployments and takes out the pain of individually deploying and managing everything saving a lot of time and effort which allows me to focus on other things. Supercool product they have made which really helps you to pick the best alternatives among various FOSS solutions and deploy them in a minimal configuration setup leveraging benefits of cloud native infrastructure.
@nishant_singh10 Glad to hear that you were able to leverage Scoutflo Deploy to reduce your DevOps effort while deploying Open Source tools! Thank you so much, keep supporting! 💙
@nishant_singh10 coming from a DevOps background, we are glad that you find value in Scoutflo. We aim to make the onboarding and maintenance of your open source stack seamless, as we move forward.
Open Source FTW 💙
@jerinamathews Glad that you found the platform easy to use, we hope you are able to find the right commercial open-source alternative to your proprietary stack and self-host it seamlessly! 💙✨
