If anyone wants to debate me as to why I don't think this will be an absolutely massive business, please hit me up because I'd love to convince you. Subscriptions are extremely dominant business models, and we need community more than ever. It's a win-win to nudge people to revisit the places they were willing to subscribe to.
When you think how the future will largely be automated, I assure you that you'll love to come back to the same shop with a friendly employee you know by first name.
In fact, this business model feels a lot like Costco, just at another layer in the metaverse - shift the profit to the membership, keep product prices lower (therefore tax), and we're all happy.
Better yet, Joe has the ultimate collection of retro cassettes. What will it take for him to offer that as a subscription on Withfriends? ;)
@tonydiepenbrock gotta build some content sharing features. Once we do that, I will absolutely offer a cassette listening subscription. I love that idea.
I love this! I am a huge advocate or a couple businesses that I will always go to. This would be great for them. Kunal and Joe are also amazing founder :D
Especially in the covid-19 economy, withfriends is a great way to tangibly show support to businesses that make your world better. Often I've found these end up being cultural venues and other gems that make your city special and are more than just a business to me. Thanks to the withfriends team and @djkgamc!
Hi ProductHunt!
It’s a pivotal moment for small businesses that make our city feel like home. It's not an easy time to run a storefront.
And yet, for the hundreds of businesses already using Withfriends, memberships are making this year significantly easier. Bluestockings bookstore, a beacon of literary culture in the Lower East Side, is moving into a larger location with the support of their rapidly growing community of members. Dimo’s Pizza, in Chicago, is selling memberships with every slice, for pickup and delivery. Sweat Records, in Miami, has raised almost $10k and counting in annual revenue.
When we built our first prototype of Withfriends, Joe (@textbrain) and I (@djkgamc) discovered an exciting fundamental truth: 1 in 20 customers will choose to buy a membership in order to support a small business, if you ask them during checkout. That's enough to increase recurring revenue for any small business by 60%!
But we also know that it's a burden on your staff to integrate memberships into your business.
That's why we built technology that connects to your point-of-sale or online store in a few minutes, and allows any small business to start selling memberships automatically!
Does your business use Square, Shopify, Squarespace, Toast, ChowNow, or Eventbrite? You can instantly start selling memberships today by connecting your store to Withfriends.
How it works:
🛒Your customers receive a personalized membership upsell after they make a purchase, with an automatic rebate on their purchase when they become a member.
🛍️Members receive discounts, and other perks you can choose
📈Your business earns 60% more revenue through memberships
💎Our technology automates everything
Try it now by connecting your store to Withfriends:

Having known @joe_ahearn and @djkgamc for a while, I feel there are few founding teams with a stronger founder-market fit than these two. They really understand small businesses, are passionate about helping them thrive, and relentless in their ambition to make a difference. Wishing the best on your mission to help every single small business!
This is a great product and initiative. I'd be happy to do what I can to support local stores, especially ones with strong value alignment, and it looks like many other people feel similarly. Congrats!
WIthfriends makes my creative endeavors sustainable. I use WF to run memberships and tickets for my supper club (which started as a fun idea and is now in its third year of success!) Check out Tile Table Supper Club! Up-vote Withfriends!
With friends is absolutely a much needed product in today's economical climate! Joe and Kunal, congratulations on the launch today and best wishes for this great endeavor...
Great way for local businesses to understand their community, provide repeat customers an incentive to keep coming back and a great way to turn a one time customer into a potentially loyal customer. A hometown feel in a tech world!
Love With Friends! I co founded a local DIY art space in Chinatown called Tea Base and we wouldn't be possible without the infrastructure that With friends provides. We have over 160 member and are able to sustainable run and operate a space for our community to gather <3
The Museum of Human Achievement has been a Withfriends member since very early on. I don't think any other company we work with has been so responsive, open to ideas and financial beneficial to our arts non-profit. We rely on community support to continue to thrive and Withfriends has been a vital tool to create financial sustainability. Also, they are nice people and I like them.
An incredible platform, built with love, designed to help small businesses and art spaces leverage their existing fans to build sustainable funding. Highly, highly, highly recommended!!
