Mayur Jobanputra
A lot of storytellers out there need help translating from their native to English. Saga is on to something here I think!
Annie Liu
@mayur_jobanputra Haha, thanks, Mayur!Hope our product can help storytellers reach a global audience and earn more money :)

Out of curiosity, how do you measure that your are 130% better than deepl?
Annie Liu
@to_p The 130% improvement figure is based on internal benchmarking using industry-standard(MQM) metrics😄
Gabor Kriston
How does SagaLabs handle idiomatic expressions and culture references in stories?
Jessie
Maker
@gabor_kriston Hi Gabor, great question! We use an agent-based architecture that first identifies idiomatic expressions, cultural references, and context-specific terms in the story. Once identified, the system ensures these elements are translated as accurately as possible while preserving their cultural significance. This way, we strive to keep the original flavor of the story intact in different languages! Let me know if you'd like more details! 😊

cool product!

I'm sure its good but authentication requirement adds a lot of friction. At least give us a chance to do a sample translation before asking for credentials.
Annie Liu
@pkundr Oh, you're right. We’ll make improvements. Thanks again!

DeepL's performance is indeed mediocre, but ChatGPT is already quite good. How does SagaLabs compare to ChatGPT?
Jessie
Maker
@bonvisions Great question! While ChatGPT excels at broader translation works, we focuses on more-contextualized translations, especially for stories(web novels, etc). Our goal is to empower creators with precise translations that capture the tone and style of the original text, making it easier for their works to resonate with a global audience. 😊

Launching soon!
@xiaoyi_liu1 Thanks! I've tried it out. Any plans for an API in the future? Will it be cost-effective? 🤔
Umberto
130% better than DeepL? How do you back up these claims? I don’t see any studies or statistics.
Annie Liu
@umberto_abbatantuono Yeah, the 130% improvement figure is based on internal benchmarking using industry-standard(MQM) metrics💪🏻
Umberto
@xiaoyi_liu1 benchmarking with which languages? Topic? Text length? I have been using DeepL with great satisfaction, and I need to see some concrete proof instead of just a number.
Annie Liu
@umberto_abbatantuono We selected texts of around 5,000 words from novels, blogs, scripts, and other content (novels were a bit longer). Since our team includes a linguist fluent in four languages, our initial testing was based on four languages: Chinese, Spanish, English, and French.

I think you guys are just wrapping OpenAI API or Anthropic (Sonnet 3.5) API. Proof me wrong.
Annie Liu
@0xconvergence Haha, we can honestly say that we haven’t trained our own model yet. We’re using the best available models and combining them. Our focus is on simulating and enhancing the human translation process, along with leveraging linguistic know-how to make translation tasks more refined. For each step, we use the model that is most suitable for that specific stage.
AmazingSylvia
130% better than Deepl?Wow!
Annie Liu
@sylvia_sheng Hh, we derived this result through systematic evaluation using the MQM system. You can try it out to see if it meets your needs🥰. If you encounter any issues during the process, please feel free to give us feedback anytime!

Congratulations @victorzh to the team on the launch! This AI-powered translation tool seems incredibly useful for creators aiming to reach a global audience. Translating into 200+ languages with native-expert quality is impressive. However, does it also handle cultural nuances effectively? Excited to see how it transforms storytelling!
Annie Liu
@victorzh @jai_singhal Thanks! Yes, we strive to simulate and reinforce the human translation process to ensure that more details are well-preserved, such as tone, style, idioms, slang, and key events from the original text.
Konrad S.
Just tried it but I don't think it works well currently. * The interface is quite confusing * When I selected German as translation language it translated most part of the text into Dutch instead * There's no scroll link between original and translation, no highlighting, not option to select alternative translation of words or sentences * Line breaks are removed in the translation * it makes unproven claims about how much better the translation is, and possible earnings And how did you measure that it's "130% better than DeepL" ??
Jessie
Maker
@konrad_sx Hi Konrad, thanks for trying out the tool and the detailed feedback! Apologies for the confusion with the German-to-Dutch issue. This might be a bug, and we're already investigating it to ensure it doesn't happen again! Line breaks is also an aware issue and our team is fixing now. For the interface confusion and scroll link improvement, we’re actively working on improving the UI for a smoother experience. Your feedback will help us prioritize key updates! The 130% improvement figure is based on internal benchmarking using industry-standard(MQM) metrics, but we understand that users might want more transparency on this. We’ll work on communicating this more clearly!
Huzaifa Shoukat
Wow, SagaLabs is mind-blowing! The translations are so good, it's like having a personal translator in every language. 💯
Annie Liu
@ihuzaifashoukat Thanks for the support! Wishing your lauching soon product all the best!🥰
Stain Lu
i just hate all those BS translate tools, with their poor performance and unreasoanble price. but sagalabs is just the game changer, you should all definitely try it and see how the words are humanized and localized!
Annie Liu
@stainlu Thx for the high praise! Yes, we've also noticed these issues in the translation field, especially with long texts, literature, and stories, where these problems become more apparent. We'll continue to optimize and iterate!🥰
Dimitri
It Iooks super promising! It reminds me of that classic idea: you get what you want by helping others get what they want. By helping creators make money through efficient localization of their writing, you're doing exactly that. Super cool!
Annie Liu
@dmtrh Thanks! 😝 Yes, during our previous market research, we discovered that local authors have a hard time promoting their work. And because of language barriers, they either have to pay for expensive human translations or rely only on readers who speak their native language. That’s why we wanted to build this platform—to help any creator, even if they only speak one language, reach a global audience and make money from it.
Dimitri
@xiaoyi_liu1 Yes, and the current auto-generated translations without human input are pretty baaad 😅 I'm so happy you're creating something better. I really hope your project gets the attention it deserves! Keep building, make a difference in the world :)
Annie Liu
@dmtrh Roger that! We’ll keep hustling and making it better!💪🏻
Christy KK
Congrats on the launch! This sounds like a dream for writers looking to expand their reach. How does SagaLabs’ AI adapt to different writing styles or tones? And can it also help generate content on the same topic but tailored for different platforms or purposes?
Annie Liu
@christy_kk Thanks! We simulate and reinforce the human translation process by first identifying the type, tone, key events, characters, idioms, and slang in the original text. However, we haven't yet released a feature tailored for different platforms, but that's a brilliant suggestion! I believe it would be very useful for our users, and we'll consider rolling it out soon. Thanks again!🥰
Annie Liu
@christy_kk BTW, wish all the best with your upcoming product launch!
Tim Hillison
Really useful @victorzh. Congrats on your launch. Looking forward to trying this out!
Annie Liu
@tim_ep1 Thx!feel free to give us feedback anytime.
