Roundup is an Asynchronous Communication Tool that Saves Time, Reduces Burnout & Improves Transparency by giving your team space for written & meaningful conversations.
The good people of Producthunt β€οΈ
I'm Manas, the Founder of Roundup π
Before I talk about what we have built, I want to take a moment to first thank @kevin for believing in us and hunting us .βοΈ I also want to give a shout-out to my amazing team (@sushant_rahul, @richa_garg, @jitesh_kriplani1) for working tirelessly to make Roundup possible. You guys are awesome. π
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why did we start Roundup?
After spending many years building products & scaling teams, I realised that we often spend an annoying amount of time doing discussions synchronously. It not only causes stress & burnout in the team but also reduce their overall throughput. Think about it, every time we call a meeting or ping someone on slack β we are effectively asking them to take a break from what they were doing.
According to many reports, each distraction leads to a loss of 23 minutes before you can get back to your deep-work state
But is every discussion time-sensitive and requires interrupting others? No, right?
That's why we created an Asynchronous Communication tool where Discussions can happen in a written & meaningful manner without causing distractions. πͺ
If I have to oversimplify our solution, then "Roundup is like Reddit for your Company βοΈ".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How does Roundup work?
π You can create a discussion forum for a specific project, team, or any other group you want to bring together.
βοΈ When you have something to discuss, share, or ask, you can create a new post on the relevant discussion forum.
π―ββοΈ All members who are following this forum will be able to see your post on their newsfeed.
π¬ Anyone can participate in the discussion by leaving replies. They can also upvote posts that they find helpful.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Benefits of Roundup
π Discussions get documented in well-organised threads and don't get buried under casual chit-chat.
Roundup provides a unique link for each conversation, which can be useful for reference or review later on. Discussions also have a clear title and can be tagged to their relevant context. Which makes it easily filter them out to find what you are looking for.
β± Discussions happen asynchronously and don't cause interruptions and distractions.
You can come in at your own convenient time and contribute to ongoing discussions. This can lead to more thought-out and well-reasoned responses, as compared to real-time communication methods where responses are expected to be immediate.
π Discussions are threaded and easy to follow
Roundup makes it easy for all participants to follow the ongoing conversation and build upon the ideas that have already been shared.
π« Discussions are done in public, which benefits everyone on the team.
Next time when someone asks you the same question, you can point them to the earlier discussion. Unlike DMs and ad-hoc catchups where conversations get easily lost.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We believe that stress & burnout is a growing problem in our modern workplace and poor communication habits have a lot to do with it.
That's why we have spent many nights and weekends building Roundup. It is our belief that it will help you create a more relaxed and productive work culture.
We are also starting a Free Beta program for our early adopters with this launch. At this stage, we are just looking for "genuine feedback" to help us evolve the product and make your work discussions delightful. When we do start to monetise Roundup, we will also come up with special discounts for those who subscribe to our Beta.
So try out Roundup with your team and tell us what you think about it. π

Hello all, my name is Richa and I am the creative head behind Roundup βοΈ.
Roundup is a fresh approach to team communication tools that is 100% asynchronous, with a focus on simplicity and ease of use. I believe you'll find it truly remarkable. π
I would appreciate any feedback you have on the product design. If there is anything that can be improved, please let me know and we will make sure to address it.
Hello everyone, my name is Sushant and I am the founding engineer of Roundup. Our team has put in a great deal of effort to develop the initial version of our product. I am thrilled to present it to all of you and hope you will give it a try. We greatly value feedback, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions you may have.
Hey guys, I'm Jitesh and I'm super happy to present Roundup to you all.
As an engineer, I have often found myself repeating the same answers over Slack DMs and ad-hoc meetings to junior engineers who need help. These conversations are almost never documented. But most of the time people have the same questions. That's why I'm building Roundup.
Roundup is just like Reddit, but for your team.
With this tool, you can organise all your unstructured discussions. So next time when you have someone asking you the same question, you can point them to the corresponding thread. It will help you save yourself from daily distractions and focus on doing the work that really matters.
Do take it for a spin with your team, and tell us how it goes.
Great onboarding. It was super fast. π
I would remove the mandatory job title. πββοΈ
When I am on the platform, I would like a quick automatic product tour of where is what; for example, you talk about a knowledge database, but I don't see that.π
If you upload a GIF, why do you need to add text? π€·ββοΈ
Cool platform, but I don't understand its added value at the moment.
Congrats on the launch @manas_sharma and team!
It's good to see new tools in async communication space.
- Loved the onboarding.
- The UX is simplistic.
- However, I would like to see more features related to the feed/posting like more editor options, searchable posts to make it more useful.
@kostandinangjellari Thanks for the wonderful feedback. I agree with you that we lack the capability to edit and search at the moment. It's on our to-do list. For the first launch, we decided to just focus on getting a basic version of the product out. But we intend to add these missing features very soon.
I have not got enough time to test and confirm the usability, but reading the product note and website it looks an exciting product.
i will certainly return back after checking out the product
@ishwarjha I'm very happy to read your comment and I look forward to you trying us out with Appetals. When you get a chance to try it out, I would love to hear your feedback as well. Feel free to connect with me later if you want to plan out deploying it with your team.
I'll check the product later today but I can already say that I'm super impressed with your launch page and graphics! π₯ Definitely makes you curious about the product...all the best for the launch @manas_sharma ! π
"Asynchronous communication" is an advanced teamwork method, and it is expected that this management method will be widely accepted. Good luck for your team!
Asynchronous communication seems to be an interesting idea to fight distractions and problems with a lack of focus among the employees, so I wish you all the best!
That's a great idea and, as most of the teams nowadays are being distributed, it becomes a sheer necessity to have tools like Roundup - all the best guys, loving what you're doing!
Good luck with the launch. I like this product as currently we have different threads on slack, teams and outlook - this is a good way to avoid thoughts getting lost. Have only looked at your extensive documentation and videos so far but we will be trying this out.
@rex_kumaran Thank you for highlighting the features you found most useful. We're glad to hear that you found Roundup to be helpful to improving your team's communication.
Hey, this looks awesome! Congrats on the launch! I am wondering if you guys are planning to add API services. I am looking for solutions to quickly integrate a discussion feature for a community-based product.
@tony_dang2 That's very good input. Thanks for sharing it here. It is one of our major focuses this year. We are looking to do 2 things:
(1) β Making discussion forums embeddable widgets. Which can be plugged into your online communities, they can be used for having a support forum, etc.
(2) β Exposing the APIs to create posts. This will create a platform for building apps on top of our product. Like you could have daily standups, drive culture with fun questions, etc.
Seems like a handy tool for teams who needs to put out productive work. And one KPI that is directly proportional to growth is transparency, which I am able to see here. Kudos to the whole team on launch
@sachin_shajan Yes. We have built it in a way that if you are someone in Marketing you can follow the discussion forums of Engineering, Product, or any other team that you are interested in. When any activity happens in another team, you can easily find that on your newsfeed - if it interests you then you can go and check the corresponding thread.
@manas_sharma Having Product Hunt style upvotes and Github style discussions seem like useful features to have in a team communication platform. Congrats on the launch!
First of all, I like the idea especially nowadays when time spent in meetings is a hot topic.
In terms of the app itself, I think it has some usability problems right now. For example, sometimes it is a little slower than expected or throws some unexpected errors, but that is to be expected in a new product I think.
All in all, I think this could be a great app for open collaboration but the important thing is that you take these first days of heavy usage to improve on it and polish the product.
Nice idea, good luck for the future.
@sombra Thanks a lot Joan for sharing your feedback. This is the first time we are getting such heavy usage and the team is currently looking into all the issues that are happening. We will use our Beta phase to fix these niggling issues and improve the overall performance. I will look forward to hearing your feedback again when we come out of beta.
Congrats @manas_sharma on your launch.
This looks interesting. The past couple of lockdown/remote work years have shown us that asynchronous clear communication/discussions are critical and all the old tools don't fit for all teams/use cases.
@nikhil_singh16@vishal_godhwani Wohoo!!! So happy to see you guys liked the product. Will love to hear the feedback from your team after trying out the product.
