A tool for GLP-1 patients to share info about when and where they’re struggling to find GLP-1s. Opt-in to sharing those details with the FDA to make it easier for other patients and providers alike to know where and when they can find GLP-1s.
Hi everyone 👋! Ben here – software engineer @ Ro & a maker of Ro’s GLP-1 Supply Tracker.
At Ro, we’ve helped hundreds of thousands of people begin their weight loss journey and have seen firsthand how hard it can be for our patients on GLP-1s to access the life-changing medications they rely on each month. As a result, we’ve been working on an open-access tool that can help patients learn about supply availability for the GLP-1 medications they need through local, real-time shortage insights and automated supply alerts. Meet the GLP-1 Supply Tracker.
We built this GLP-1 Supply Tracker to do 3 things:
⚡️/ 🙌 Enable patients to crowdsource information about available GLP-1 supply
🔎 Share real-time shortage reports with the FDA
📢 Help providers and other stakeholders stay informed with automated alerts on the latest status of GLP-1s on the FDA’s Drug Shortage list to best help patients
Say you’re currently prescribed Zepbound, 5mg – if your pharmacy is unable to fill your GLP-1 medication prescription, you can report a shortage in your area and opt-in to reporting it to the FDA, helping to inform their shortage data at the agency-level. Then, when someone else near you reports they were able to find that dosage of Zepbound, Ro will email you with details about the pharmacy where supply was found.
We felt uniquely positioned to build the GLP-1 Supply Tracker by combining our supply insights and in-house expertise building easy-to-use patient-centric tools with publicly available information, to make it easier for patients to know when and where they can find GLP-1s. But, this product is only as good as the community that crowdsources the supply information. We’ve made it accessible to everyone – not just Ro patients – for that exact reason, and are updating it in real time as we receive new info about GLP-1 supply.
We’d love your feedback on the Supply Tracker! Anything this community is willing to share will be so helpful as we continue to fight for our patients’ ability to access lifesaving care, everyday.
congrats on the launch. it's great to see a focus on GLP-1 availability. how do you ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the data input by users? are there any mechanisms in place to verify the reports before they're shared?
