@bramk Hey Bram, were coming, really really soon!
Karl Clement
Hey David, great work on the keyboard. Although your website looks oddly similar to http://popkey.co. Popkey is coming really, really soon!

@dmcintosh Funny GIFs aside, if you're going to make a similar product, I don't see why you'd imitate a competitor's site design. Seems a bit over the top.

@ShloimeFlg We focused on getting the best possible product out first. We wanted to make sure we had the following before announcing: 1. Support for all messaging platforms - WhatsApp, FB Messenger, not just iMessage 2. Video with audio/music 3. Full text-search 4. iOS8 Extension to save GIFs for later 5. Leverage our existing community of content creators and artists All five are unique to the Riffsy Keyboard - our website just shows screenshots of the product. http://www.riffsy.com/view/sriff... (I just love GIFs)

Time to start texting my entire address book random GIFs. Well done, @dmcintosh. Nic approves: (yo, @KatManalac! This was made for you.)

Is there a reason you need full access in settings for the keyboard to work? Why would you need access to everything I type/have typed?
Derek Shanahan
@adamsigel It seems they all do. I've wondered the same but every keyboard I've tried needs that setting.
David McIntosh
@adamsigel @dshan - Apple iOS8 requires keyboards to have full access in order to access to the internet. All the GIFs are fetched from the cloud so we need network access. But we don't log/store any keystrokes or do anything sketchy.

The iOS keyboard doesn't work for Twitter's native gif support. That's a big UX pitfall. Coming soon?
David McIntosh
@alexhorre Currently you can share links to the GIF (long-press on a GIF for share options). We hope to do an API integration with Twitter Cards where the "preview" for the URL is a GIF instead of a static image. Fingers crossed - any twitter folks in this thread? :-) Support for saving a GIF (not just a video) to Camera Roll is coming with the next update, which will enable this use-case as well!
Alexander Horré
@dmcintosh Yeah, I think everyone on Product Hunt is a Twitter user—even heavy Twitter users. After all, the login for this is Twitter. I'm sure you're aware gif sharing on Twitter is absolutely huge. That's why Twitter supports it now. Mobile + Twitter + Gif Keyboard? Dude. I've rarely heard of, read of, or thought of sharing gifs in text messages and I'm a pretty good early adopter.
David McIntosh
@alexhorre That makes sense - and I assume you want the GIF to play inline in the message - not just a link - correct?
David McIntosh
@alexhorre You can now use the GIF Keyboard on twitter! Just hold down the gif, tap the paste-link option, and it automatically turns it into a card that plays on twitter. Take a look at this tweet for example: https://twitter.com/dmcintosh/st... Let me know if you have any feedback!
David McIntosh
David from Riffsy here. One of the things that's surprising us is the popularity of sending short videos with music or audio from the Riffsy GIF keyboard!

Have been playing with the beta on this. Lots of fun!

Not sure if this creates or solves a problem. Either way I'm all over this.

Fun idea. Just wanted it to be easier
