Send ads to the recent visitors of *someone else's* website. For example, if you sell tennis gear, you might have success retargeting a site that ranks the best rackets available 🎾
Repixel was built with global privacy regulations top of mind.
OK cooooool. I am so sorry if this question has already been asked. I would like to have one login with multiple sites that I offer pixels for. Is it possible?
@mdorsett confirmed! You can list as many sites to the marketplace as you'd like from a single account. Hope that helps! Let me know if any other questions come up 👍
Is this a fair usage of pixels according to Facebook's Terms of Service agreement? It's a clever concept but I'm curious what the risks are to both parties (pixel owner + pixel borrower)
@kathleensmith thanks for the question and your interest in Repixel! What specific TOS clauses were you concerned about? Putting your FB pixel on someone else's website isn't allowed, but Repixel leverages FB's built-in share pixel functionality. Does that help to ease your concerns?
Repixel is a way to supercharge your retargeting. Even if you're used to send ads to your website visitors, doing it to specific related websites/blogs and even possible competitors (in a few years probably) is a no-brainer for any digital marketers.
The cool thing is also the pricing model; If you have a blog, that's a nice & legit way to make more money. And if you're a business, you can easily select potential pixels based on relevant data and monthly subscription fees.
The only thing I might be skeptic about is the fact that we are drifting in a world where data is a personal right and where it should be less and less shared between businesses.
Otherwise, great product & good job to the team 👍
@bujold19 thanks so much for the thoughtful comment! I know that's a hot topic, and thank you for bringing it up. It's our belief that data and the use of cookies has pros (such as personalization, and in our case, showing people more relevant ads), and cons (such when it makes people feel uncomfortable or becomes invasive). Our feeling is the best solution to this debate is to give people the option in regards to what data is collected and what isn’t. Repixel and ad networks make opting out of data collection very easy under GDPR & CCPA. Some people will decide to take a bit more personalization, and others will decide to take a bit more privacy. Both are valid decisions that we fully support. Just our $0.02, hope that's helpful, and thanks again for the comment!
Hello Product Hunt! 😻
We originally launched on Product Hunt ~7 months ago and got some amazing feedback from this community. Thank you! Since that time, we’ve been hard at work rebuilding the product (with professional designers this time!) and can’t wait to share the updates.
Quick reminder on Repixel: Repixel is a marketplace that lets advertisers retarget (send ads to) the visitors of *someone else’s* website. For example, if you sell wine, you might have success retargeting a blog that ranks the best wine subscription clubs. After all, everyone on that website isn’t just interested in wine, but they’re almost certainly on the verge of making a purchase 🥂
Technically, Facebook makes this incredibly easy for advertisers through their “share pixel” button. But finding partner’s in your niche that 1) share your customer base, 2) are non-competitive, and 3) actually wants to work with you, can be very difficult! Through Repixel, publishers can post a listing indicating that they’re willing to work with advertisers for a set fee, and advertisers can see a “menu” of potential partners all in one place.
Once the connection is made, website owners get a new revenue stream without having to litter their website with spammy ads and advertisers get a new audience to serve relevant ads to 🚀
In this update, you’ll find a completely redesigned app packed with usability improvements, an improved onboarding experience, more transparency to better understand who you’re working with, a revamped pricing model where advertisers can license entire pixels rather than paying for each pageview, and 7X the number of websites to pick from.
Hope you have time to check it out! We’ll be around all day replying to comments and can’t wait to hear what you think! 🙌
Josh
p.s. For this week only, exclusive to the Product Hunt community, we’ll be applying a $20 credit to all accounts that spend $100 in their first 30 days.
This is a very interesting solution. I have dabbled with a similar idea for newsletters/rewards but didn't build it through.
Would highly recommend this for Marketers, specially in e-commerce :)
What are the privacy implications of this? Is this in line with Facebook's custom audiences policies?
Also gotta love the irony of deletemydata.io selling access to their pixel data!
@mack_grenfell thanks for the comment and your interest in Repixel! I know that's a hot topic, and thank you for bringing it up. Similar to traditional retargeting, users will have the option to opt-out of tracking by not granting permission to website owners to track them, or they can also block this behavior in their settings. Some people will decide to take a bit more personalization, and others will decide to take a bit more privacy. Both are valid decisions that we fully support. Just our $0.02, hope that's helpful, and thanks again for the comment!
@anton_viborniy I completely agree with you. We're still building up our list of website owners, hopefully we'll have some more soon for you :). Let's plan to check back in a month or so!
What a smart idea. Affiliate link revenue for niche vertical content sites has been going down over the last few years, so this should be a nice supplement income stream, and has the knock-on effect of improving content quality and user experience on the web (less affiliate link spam, less on-page advertising, etc.). Very neat.
Are you thinking of creating curated bundles of sites by vertical at all?
With 10 years of experience primarily in marketing and advertising, I see this as a huge innovation. A new way to find value through your website and to target specific cohorts of customers. Is there a downside? Congrats ?makers !
@cathy_melnikow thanks so much for the kind words, Cathy! Always great to hear these things from a fellow marketer. In terms of downsides, there's no immediate gratification as you have to wait for your partner to approve you and then collect performance data from the test, but hopefully the bump in performance ends up being worth the wait :). Hope that helps, and thanks again for the comment and interest!
Nice concept. practicality of sharing in 'access' in todays ultra privacy conscious world might not be as easy to convert. Would be awesome if one didnt have to obtain permission
Good idea! One thing that would persuade me a lot more to join your marketplace, is if you had another metric other than website pageviews. This would persuade me of the quality of the website. Or make the metric more granular- pageviews per month? I didn't feel like the quality of the websites matched up to the prices they were charging.
@ep6791 thanks for the feedback! I think you're right, maybe a Google Analytics integration would be useful. In the meantime, we have a free trial, so if the quality isn't there, you'll never be charged a penny.
Congrats on the launch, we always did this internally between the products that we are shipping, but it's really nice to be able to tap into the other markets and competitors as well, good job, really like the idea!
This is a really interesting product that could help me in my past business!
Josh, if you are looking for a product manager for Repixel - feel free to contact me)
Hi Josh,
I am not sure if your read the "Customer List Custom Audiences Terms" section 9.
- You may not sell or transfer your Audiences, or authorize any third party to sell or transfer Audiences. However, advertisers and their service providers, as well as independent parties you have entered into agreements with for licensing marketing information, can share Audiences with each other through tools we make available for that purpose, subject to the restrictions and requirements of those tools, our terms, and applicable law. -
@victor_sebastian1 thanks for your question and interest in Repixel! As you'll see from those terms, Facebook refers to "*Customer List* *Custom Audiences* Terms" -- Repixel doesn't facilitate the sharing of customer lists, or custom audiences, as that would be explicitly against policy. All pixel sharing in our marketplace is encouraged to be done through the built-in share pixel functionality. Does that help to ease your concerns?
@jchopak not really as you lease and monitize a property of facebook which is also prohibited in ULA and TOS.
Even if you share "pixel" its still custom audiences you share and according to GDPR and CCPA you breaking this clause in facebook aswell as this is not following applicable law. The customer who concented in each page did not concented to be remarketed from other than those pages they already concented from.
1. It breaks the TOS with FB
2. It breaks with GDPR and CCPA
So 100% this service is not compliaent.
@kathy_k2 haha thanks! Love to hear that. I know the post was written for advertisers, but Repixel is every bit built for publishers like yourself as well.
@martinsanton please keep in mind that Repixel leverages Facebook's built-in share pixel functionality -- neither us nor our users would be collecting any data at all.
