Hi Product Hunt!
I'm thrilled to share with you version 4.0 of Remotion:
1️⃣ First-party support for Zod, allowing you to visually edit your component props and watch your canvas update in real-time.
2️⃣ With the Render Button, you can render right from the Remotion Studio without having to use the command line.
3️⃣ A new Rust-powered architecture, making embedding existing videos twice as fast and laying the foundation for future acceleration!
There is more: Exporting to PDF, two new templates and more straightforward data-driven videos.
This week, we are posting a video every day showing off the new capabilities: https://remotion.dev/4
Whether be it the 3D engine that we built in React for the intro of our keynote, the visual props editor, or dog-feeding Remotion to produce our videos – all our efforts have the same goal: To let you do more with React.
I hope you give it a try!
Can't wait to upgrade my little projects and play around with the latest and greatest version of Remotion. Johnny and his team built a great tool and even better community around it, thanks a lot.
It's incredible how easy it is to make videos with React using Remotion. Really excited to try the new features from this 4.0 release. This will definitely make our content marketing team more productive.
Hi @sterv
Thanks for all your support. Just grateful to have you on Remotion's journey! I’m happy that you highlight the simplicity of creating videos out of React! ✨
Hey @stefan_smiljkovic
Glad you like the new version of Remotion! With 4.0, you have the basic features to create a GUI yourself in the Remotion Studio. It’s definitely worth watching the following video on YouTube, where Jonny shows Visual Editing in Remotion:
Although Remotion is primarily a developer tool, and our focus will remain on its development, we do plan on expanding its GUI capabilities and possibly adding low-code features in the future. To make Remotion more accessible for beginners, we'll be providing more resources, such as easy-to-follow tutorials. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you can be notified when they're available.
Absolutely love the idea and execution. I've been able to create my first VaaS: video as a service! Just tried out the new Remotion Studio – development have become much easier since you can change the data, colors, etc fast. And encoder settings – before, I had to mess around in my remotion.config.ts to find the optimal settings, now I can do this interactively which is very nice.
Hey @samohovets
This sounds awesome! It seems like you know perfectly well how to use the new features of Remotion 4.0! Super interested to know what your VaaS is about. If you like, hit us up on Discord.
I've been using this incredible tool since I saw it on Product Hunt for the V2 Launch. Support is incredible, not to mention the tools I have built on top of it!
Awesome library! Been using this in the previous versions and Jonny always fixes issues/implements features super fast. The community discord is great too. Can't wait for v4 features.
Hi @javed_ahamed!
Appreciate your kind words. We hope you are going to like the new features shipped with V4. Let us know if you have any questions or just want to share something with us! Always happy to help or interact. 💙
Hi @dominiksumer!
Very much appreciated, and happy to have you in the community. Feel free to share your thoughts or questions on V4 in our Discord server. 👋
This is Awesome! We have been using Remotion as one of our core tools at Jupitrr for 2 years. To be honest, we couldn't make it without Remotion.
The part I love for this update is - my non-technical team can finally help to build on remotion too 😂
Hey @tsejerome
So happy to hear that. You are describing exactly the use case we initially wanted to cover with visual editing. Feel free to drop a line on Discord by telling us how it's working for your team and if we could improve anything. 😊
Congrats on the launch -- amazing product! I'm a developer, not a video editor, but on numerous occasions require an edited video. I didn't even think to approach it from a programmatic standpoint which would be much easier for me; definitely going to use this product and I wish you the best of luck! I am actually starting my own product, ezML, which is a computer vision platform for integrating computer vision into apps. If you are interested in growing your feature set by adding computer vision let me know and we can work something out :)
Hey @deds3t
Jonny started developing Remotion exactly because of the same reason as you mentioned in the beginning. We welcome you to join our community of creative developers. Additionally, you may be interested to know that there is a potential plan to support React Native in Remotion. Here is a blog post: https://www.remotion.dev/docs/re...
@jonny_burger@mehmetademi Congrats on the release of Remotion 4.0! The Render Button seems like a handy feature. Are there any limitations when it comes to queuing and tracking multiple renders simultaneously?
Hi @ricardo_luz
Thanks a lot! Glad to know you are seeing the benefit of the Render Button. We are sure it will boost the Remotion experience.
To answer your question:
Currently, it’s not possible to render multiple videos simultaneously when using the Render Button. However, there is no limit to queuing your renders, and each render can be tracked in the CLI.
Awesome work! I really like the zod integration, the speedups with rust and even better dev exeperience. Can't wait to upgrade my apps to use remotion 4.
Hi @karelnagel!
Glad to know you are excited to use the new features in V4. We are super happy to have you in the community, and it's an honor to call you a Remotion Expert! 🙌
While innovative, the tool might present a steep learning curve for those unfamiliar with React, potentially limiting its user base. It would be beneficial if it could offer different approaches for various levels of coding expertise or tutorials to help beginners get up to speed. Moreover, some might find the interface to be complex; streamlining it could make the tool more user-friendly.
Hi @patpijanowski
Thanks for your feedback. I couldn’t agree more. While I would say it’s easy for experienced React developers, React beginners might have to put some effort into it. However, this is going to be addressed in the future. There are multiple ways we are going to take care of this. One thing I can tell you now is that we are going for sure to put more tutorials out.
I would love to have your constructive feedback in our Discord. It’s exactly what helps us to get better. 🙌
Hi @thecmdrunner
Thank you very much! Great to know you are excited to explore V4. Your feedback is of much value!
I'm hyped and looking forward to Swiftube’s release and having you as a Remotion Expert as well! Will soon catch up on that. 😊
