Remotion allows you to make real MP4 videos written in React. Use web technologies like CSS, SVG, WebGL to make interesting motion graphics. Use programming to dynamically make different variants of videos and automate it using server-side rendering.

Beautiful work Jonny, have always been impressed by the videos you made to accompany your apps, it really is quite the shocker how you actually created them. @jonny_burger and @wcandillon discussing Remotion a while back

@wcandillon @s2imon You knew the hype before it launched 😃

Mind blowing product ! Well done

Great work. I’m building an MVP for a business idea ASAP on top of this as I think this was a missing piece for generating dynamic video content. You deserve all of the praise and money that is hopefully coming your way. You’ve hinted rendering was a bit slow. Can you confirm if rendering using an Apple M1 chip would be faster?
Jonny Burger
@micksabox Thanks a lot! I don't have the M1, but yes I can totally confirm it, everything is faster using an M1 chip! :)

Next level! As a motion designer, I'm always interested in leveraging code to improve my videos. But this is game a changer! How would you define the learning curve from someone that knows how to use current video editing tools? Congrats on the launch!

Hello Product Hunt! Glad to finally release Remotion, a low-level, unopinionated foundation for building videos in React! The introductory video and the Product Hunt Logo were animated with Remotion itself. I see a great opportunity in enabling developers to create their own programmatic videos. I think what Spotify did with their "Wrapped" campaign recently, creating a personalized video for every user was super awesome. With Remotion, you can create personalized video, even feed data from APIs into it and render the videos server-side. And as a developer you will feel right at home. How Remotion works is simple: It gives you a frame number, and it is your opportunity to render anything you want using your favorite web technologies. Change the content over time to create motion! To turn it into a video, Remotion uses Puppeteer and FFMPEG to screenshot frames and stitch them together. Remotion is open source, but I decided to go with a custom license for Remotion: While it is free for individuals and small teams, bigger companies will have to acquire a company license to use Remotion. I hope to make a sustainable business out of this framework! Feel free to AMA.

@jonny_burger This is really interesting! Love it. I think its great for developers and creators! For people who already know react, they can create really cool stuff without having to learn other video animation softwares already.
Jonny Burger
@daryllman That's what I thought as well! Thanks for the support!

Very cool! Such a fantastic idea and several possibly applications, like ads where you need loads of the same video in different sizes.

Too cool.

Great work man! Bringing back video editing into a medium that's comfortable (and a lot more powerful) for many devs.

This looks awesome. Great work Will try it out!

@startupaaron Very nice, thanks for trying it out! I'd be curious to see what you built!

Wow, how did I miss this on PRODUCT HUNT?! I will advocate this product as far as I can. Good luck @jonny_burger, I've shared this on my social media because this is really problem I wanted to solve. The power of programming x ability to re-use repeated workflow x videos. This is peak 2021.

Remotion is super awesome, so many possibilities to build upon this: * a marketplace for video templates (like envato marketplace) * hosted service with input mini-ide like codesandbox * an endless number of scripted / automated renderings (charts, logs, content mashups, documentation, ...)

Great job @jonny_burger and I'm very glad to see that all your effort, hard work and creativity is paying out. Believe in yourself - Axelra will definitively use your amazing library.
