Hey Product Hunt! 👋 Martin, RemNote co-founder here! RemNote is the all-in-one tool for thinking and learning. We unite documents, spaced-repetition flashcards, PDFs, and more - all in a single workspace. We launched RemNote V1 on PH last January and received a ton of feedback from our incredible community. Today, I’m super excited to launch our Redesign Update: a complete UI and UX overhaul. Literally every pixel in the tool has been upgraded. A few highlights: - ✍️ A fresh new editor optimized for learning and organizing. - ➡️ New flashcard creation UX. Type >> in any document to instantly create a spaced-repetition flashcard. - 🗯️ A brand new Omnibar for fast keyboard manipulation. - 🕳️ Lightweight portals for low-friction transclusion. - ✨ A clean and modernized UI, with a completely redesigned Queue, Sidebar, Image Occlusion editor, and more. - 🤫 Focus mode for distraction-free content creation, note-taking, and editing. - 🎛 A new “All Notes” table for quick filtering and batch document editing. - 😱 Much, much more! Check out our 20-page changelog for details 😅: https://bit.ly/RemNote14 These improvements build on top of our wide base of learning and thinking features: backlinks, spaced-repetition flashcards, PDF annotation, portals, image occlusion, aliases, fast search, and much more 🤯. Our goal is to solve the 'thinking and learning bottleneck' by replacing multiple complicated tools with one simple workspace. Read more about our story, roadmap, and growth (we just raised $2.8M) here: https://bit.ly/RemNoteNextChapter. Want to give it a try? We have a powerful free plan and early-bird pricing in effect for all Product Hunt users. The team has put a ton of love into this update and we’re excited to hear what you all think - happy learning! Martin

So far I have 21,000 notes and 4,800 flashcards in RemNote. I've tried all the competitors and RemNote is by far the best product in it's class. I can't wait to see what it done with this platform going forward. Lots of potential!
Moritz Wallawitsch
@matthew_crowl Thanks a lot! That's an impressive knowledge base 💪 We also can't wait to see what's to come 🚀

Congratulations RemNote Team.. I love everything you do.. I've had a not-so-short or long time over a year with RemNote. Since RemNote is still a little-known application but full of potential. Sometimes I feel disappointed, annoyed but extremely happy when I know a great application. Today, I finally got to see the amazing stuff I've been waiting for all this time to be extended to more and more users. Love from Vietnam..

@taquangkhoi Thanks for the support!

I use Anki for many years and Anki help me a lot with my studies. But a thing confused me a lot is that I spend a lot of time to take notes and then take a lot of time to make cards on Anki. I always think this is not a efficient way to study because I almost used double time comparing with others. So to save time I sometimes only made cards not made notes, or only made cards. I believe studying is a whole life thing, notes and cards can help develop long term memory. Though doing both will use a lot of time I still force myself to do this. Things change until I found Remnote a year ago. It is THE tool I was looking for. I do not need to choose from notes or cards. It is so easy to make cards and notes at same time, no need to spend extra time, no need to be hesitated ever. And all cards and notes can keep forever since Remnote has local knowledge database. Really happy to see Remnote is on a new start. Now I have more expectations for this amazing app. - I wish can make annotations on more file format, like .epub, and add-on service with pdf OCR. - Multidatabase in one account and shared knowledge database to share both notes and cards. - A better plugins system. - More stable desktop and mobile apps. I believe all these will be happening in the near future. Let's see. My first comment on ProductHunt is for Remnote.
Martin Schneider
@bleedingsaber So glad that RemNote helps with your long-term learning! We're working on these :) Multi-database & collaboration are being internally tested in alpha right now. The V2 plugins system is a big upcoming project. This update should have improved the app stability, and we're going to be focusing more on the mobile UX next. Lots coming!

Love this category and focus on students. I used paper and pen back in my day, lol.
Moritz Wallawitsch
@rrhoover Glad you like it! We should chat again some time. Paper and pen are indeed one of our main competitors, lol

I love remnote, our community all love it. Voice from China, there are many RN users here, and we already built a CN community to share RN tricks, event translated the RN doc and publish it into RemNote 😂 Wait for i18n support, our community could help for translating. Still need more payment methods for students as they do not have Visa Card.
Moritz Wallawitsch
@rememberlenny thanks! We had a great designer, @andres_leon1 🤙🏼

I love this product. Two requests: * Prioritize a Readwise integration * Push your updates out more frequently vs. big launches Keep it up!
Moritz Wallawitsch
@k3arn3y, Thx! Will do.

Martin, Moritz, Hannes including all the RemNote Teams... You guys did a really amazing job. I can't wait what is the next thing RemNote team would make! btw, I miss the RemNote Tree logo haha
Martin Schneider
@browneyedsoul Thanks! Haha the current logo is still *supposed* to look like a tree - the triangle is the "trunk" and the lines are the "branches". It's a bit abstract though ;)
sreyas sivaanand
The new design looks gorgeous.
Moritz Wallawitsch
I think so too @sreyas_sivaanand, thanks to @andres_leon1

Hi, first of all, I love RemNote! It offers exactly what I've spent so long trying to work out - Taking notes in a way that allows me to revisit and practice them later, in addition to building a second brain for knowledge and knowledge management. And with the new redesign, using it has become even more joyful. I've got a few questions: 1. Will there be an option to turn off automatic numbering? I frequently use up to 9 numbering levels (e.g. A) I) 1) a) aa) (1) (a) (aa) (i)), but since the automatic numbering only works for default numbering, it looks off in a multi level system. 2. Would it be possible to add breaks to tags? When using the side-by-side view, longer/multiple tags end up blocking most of the space, which results in the actual Rem being broken up. That way, a Rem can turn from one line in the full page view to 34 lines in the side-by-side view with tags. 3. Are there any plans to add more payment methods? For Europeans, Banks add fees for Stripe/credit card use outside of the European Union, which it classifies as. Thanks for the work you are doing, I'm looking forward to what the future holds!
Moritz Wallawitsch
Hi @luisplatzer, this is great feedback. I'll add the numbering feature/system to our backlog for consideration and create ticket for the second item. And yes, we're actively working to get more payment methods up and running! Thank YOU!
Martin Schneider
@luisplatzer Thanks! 1. Do you mean that you'd like the 2nd and 3rd list levels to use letters instead of numbers again? Yeah, we can look into that :) 2. We're planning to fix this and hopefully push the tags to the bottom. 3. Yep, we're working on this!
Luis Platzer
@martin_schneider1 ad 1. Yes and no, due to the multi level numbering I do, the automatic numbering "interferes" with the rest of the numbering, since it is the only item that will automatically change into a numbered list. An example as to what I mean: https://www.remnote.io/a/numberi... Now, as you can see, the automatic numbering changes the amount of indenting, since it replaces the * in front of each Rem (freeing up space in the item itself). Therefore it would be nice to have an option to turn it off, either document-based (would allow for more customization, could possibly be added in a "document settings" menu item for each document), or globally in the account settings. Now, the dream solution for me would be the following: - You can fully customize the automatic numbering, meaning that you set a start level by starting automatic numbering (e.g. sub level 2), which then automatically adds numbering on all sub levels of that item, as well as items of the same level (the latter being the way it already works). It would also be great if you could customize your type of numbering, as well as which type of numbering would occur on which level. An example: Level one: Capitalized letters (A., B., C., D., E. ...) Level two: Roman numbering (I., II., III., IV., V., ....) Level three: Latin numbering (1., 2., 3., 4., 5., ...) Level four: small letters (a., b., c., d., e., ...) Level five: small double letters (aa., bb., cc., dd., ee. ...) Level six: latin numbers encased differently ((1), (2), (3), (4), (5)) Level seven: small letters encased differently (a), (b), (c), (d), (e)) Level eight: small double letters encased differently ((aa), (bb), (cc), (dd), (ee)) Level nine: small roman numbering (i., ii., iii., iv., v.) Now, with that you could switch around all the levels and the styles to your liking, choosing ) instead of . for example - I guess its comparable to the way word does numbering customization. I know that this is a rather complex and niche request, but I'd like to add it to your pool of feature considerations :) I haven't looked into adding custom numbering as a front end plugin, is it possible to manipulate the numbering through that? If so, I'll see if I can create a plugin that allows me to do add my own numbering system. ad 2. & 3. That's great to hear, keep up the great work!
Luis Platzer
@moritzwallawitsch I'm glad to help! I've replied to Martin below with a more detailed description of what I mean, as well as a more detailed numbering system suggestion.
