👋 Jess here, co-founder & CEO of Remark A few years ago, I started watching environmental documentaries and felt lots of anxiety, frustration, and hopelessness. I realized policy was taking too long and it was hard to see how my personal actions were adding up. So I decided to reach out to businesses directly with my sustainability feedback. And guess what? They got back to me. I started thinking, what if it's not just a few emails … What if we could make it easy to send thousands or millions of emails to businesses around the world? 🤔 The problem Like me, consumers are increasingly frustrated with the climate & waste crisis. Over 41% of Gen Zers fear climate change more than anything else. But they don’t have an easy way to voice their concerns directly with businesses. On the other hand, businesses rely on consumer insights to guide their decision-making. Yet there is a MASSIVE data gap in sustainability. Beyond a few major studies, businesses lack granular, business-specific consumer data to turn insights into profitable (and impactful) action. 🛠 The solution Remark exists to fill this data gap. We make it easy for consumers to voice their sustainability feedback directly to business decision-makers. We relieve their guilt and provide a way for them to actually DO something about their concerns. Remark then translates that feedback into actionable data and resources to help businesses profitably take action. 💪 The results We’re early days, however, Remark users have sent over 1,500 emails and have received individual, personalized (non-canned) responses from the executives of Starbucks, Costco, Walmart, Albertsons, and Chipotle, as well as countless others. As a result of this feedback, we’ve already seen a grocery chain stop wrapping their produce in plastic, a beauty company commit to going plastic-free, and a multi-billion dollar agriculture company request sustainability resources to revamp their packaging/operations. 🙃 I’ll stop typing now Let me know what you think!

Remark makes leaving consumer feedback for a business fast and simple. You don't always get a response from the business, but when you do, you can feel the impact working. We've gotta start somewhere and many times these businesses aren't aware of sustainability and the care the public has about it. Education time!
