@_jamesmundy Interesting and exciting that Microsoft is making Windows available for free, I'd love to hear from someone in the Windows dev community as to whether or not this will make the pi a dev target for them. I'm not a Windows dev and have had access to free copies of Windows since at least Vista—but there is a pretty big difference between a free copy for local development and the ability to distribute devices with copies of the (limited?) OS.

@510_boatswain yes. I read somewhere that they have made it easy to change how many cores of the processor you use, so if you don't care about power consumption you will have them all on, but if you are on battery power for example, you may wish to utilise just one core.

@thesameerk "Are you discontinuing the Raspberry Pi 1 Model B and B+? No. We have a lot of industrial customers who will want to stick with Raspberry Pi 1 for the time being. We’ll keep building Raspberry Pi 1 Model B and Model B+ as long as there’s demand for it. Both these boards will continue to sell for $35."
