Rambox is a workspace browser that allows you to manage as many applications as you want, all in one place. It is perfect for people who care about productivity and work with many applications, both business and personal.
Do common keyboard shortcuts of the respective apps work? Last time I used rambox I couldnβt use copy paste on slack nor command + t for quick access search.
Hey @saenzramiro . Rambox was the first single app I used. One of the main reasons I stoped was because I couldn't have two whatsapp accounts on it, and because of that I always went to Franz 2.0 .
With this new launch here on Product hunt what is new?
@itstheandre We are launching Rambox Pro, a new version of Rambox CE but with steroids. You should have two WhatsApp account either in CE or Pro, maybe was a bug at that time.
After using several "all in one" app (Franz 5, Station, Rambox , etc), I decided to give Rambox Pro a go: I'm still sticking to it after almost one year !
This is an awesome product, not too heavy on CPU & RAM and with good costumer support.
Spell-checker (with ability to define a language for each app), synchronization between devices, multiple workspaces (pro & perso) and focus mode makes it the killer app!
π for this great product!
Hello Product Hunters! ππΌ I'm very excited to launch here! π
Introduction:
Hi π! I'm a 32yo software developer who lives in Argentina. I work in a small team of three people where we work hard to help people organizing their workspace to boost their productivity.
Problem:
I built Rambox because I work on multiple projects every day, and each one demands to use specific web apps for management, communication, emails, etc. I found myself with nine pinned tabs in my Google Chrome, and they started to bother me because I also use the browser to search, read and all you can imagine but also my CPU and RAM were π₯π₯!
Solution:
I created a multi-platform desktop app with some features to help with productivity and organization. That's why I built Rambox CE launched here in 2016 as a Free and Open Source project.
Today, after a year of maturity, I decided to share with you my loved project we have been working. Rambox Pro is our paid version, where we add more features, apps, and provide special support.
Who it's for:
If you are a person who works in front of a computer every day and use the same web apps every single day, no matter what activity you develop, Rambox CE or Pro can help you. π
Hopefully, you can find it interesting and help you with your productivity. I will be glad to read your feedback and answer your questions. π€
Thank you!
@saenzramiro It looks good man. Best of luck to you, I will definitely try it out. How does CPU usage compare to just launching all the other apps independently?
I've used Rambox since the early days when it was an open source alternative to Franz. While it is/was a great product, it's a shame that it's now closed-source.
@andreasgassmann Rambox CE continue as an Open Source project and free. Instead, Rambox Pro is closed-source, but we don't discard the possibility to open the code in a future.
@saenzramiro I'm happy to hear that there is still a possibility that pro becomes open-source! If that happens I would definitely consider paying for it, but I'm not comfortable using a closed-sourced app for something as sensitive as personal messages.
This is the first app that opens when I start my computer, and it has been so for the past 1 year. I have used it for things beyond chat - JIRA, Trello, TweetDeck, and what not. Highly recommended!
I use Rambox daily for more then a year now. I started using it because I have to keep a lot of communications tabs open when I'm at work, and there aren't much options to organize this on linux. I recommend it if you have this need of always check some tabs, and if you want to decide which ones will notify you or not.
It's very simple to use and works really well with web apps in custom domains.
I love having all my communication tools (e-mail, slack, whatsapp, etc) in one single window. It might sound like a small thing, but if you simply open your GMail accounts on a separate Chrome window, then Cmd + Tab becomes useless to switch to it. Rambox also makes it super easy to turn off notifications or entire apps when they are distracting me during work hours. Been using it for more than a year now and love it.
I've been using Rambox for past half year and I am very pleased with it. It's easier to have dedicated app for messaging apps rather than have 10 pinned tab in your browser. Great work guys, keep it up!
Great product! I LOVE Rambox, I use it every day.. thanks a lot! and I love the fact that you guys are latinamericans... keep it up!! (and maybe add torrent option to updates?)
@saenzramiro HI! for those of us that dont have good bandwith, torrent is a great help, because the size of the file is around 60 mbytes, and if the connection gets interrupted, I have to start over from the beggining.. torrents allows interruptions and resuming, until the download is complete.. also, since via torrent you get the file from various other users, it gets faster, so it is a great option, and easy for you to do.. in the same server you put the new file, with utorrent software, create the torrent and then post the torrent file (a ver small one) or a magnet link (no file, like a link) and that's it
I use it for movies and tv shows, and sometimes large software files
let me know if I can help :)
bugs found in the use of rambox in kde desktop as the browser mode when the user is installing please add the function choose kde or gtk because so at the time of saving files it will open the dolphin movie manager instead of nautilus and the only bug that I will be thanked for the attention.
