This looks super promising! The ability to pull accurate, source-backed answers from multiple knowledge bases is impressive, especially for cross-functional teams. I love how it handles complex documents while keeping everything secure with built-in permissions. This could genuinely save a ton of time spent searching for information.
Congrats on the launch!
Best wishes and sending lots of wins to the team :) @foobarfighter
Love the idea of Base Chat! We’ve been using a basic chatbot for our internal knowledge base, but it falls short when it comes to handling complex queries and multiple data sources. The ability to connect with tools like Slack and HubSpot is a game-changer. Can’t wait to see how it performs in a real-world scenario. Keep up the great work! 💡
@dphenomenal101 thank you so much for your awesome reply and the kind wishes! Your support means the world to us. When our product goes live, we’d love to get your thoughts and feedback. Your input would be super valuable, and we’d be thrilled if you could join us on this journey. Looking forward to it! 🚀
@ryangilbert thanks Ryan! I think about a 3 weeks or a month, we ship very first :)
@ryangilbert Base Chat was built relatively quickly because it leverages so many of the features that we built into Ragie core, but the pull came from a couple of different places. The majority of the features were cribbed from a project that we built a while ago called https://mearsheimer.ai because people that saw the project wanted something similar for themselves.
When we decided to build Base Chat, we built it as a "Mearsheimer" for businesses and released it as an open source project so people could refer to features we built as a reference for their applications, but as soon as we released that, there was demand for a hosted version.
Today we're announcing official support for a hosted version of Base Chat, but we want to make sure that we spoke to as many early adopters as possible before we went for a General Availability release. I'm looking forward to talking to people that are interested in trying it out!
@ryangilbert @foobarfighter @dphenomenal101 @g_d Any plans to expand custom embeddings or fine-tuning for domain-specific knowledge? Would love to see how it evolves!
@ryangilbert @foobarfighter @g_d @kui_jason We’re already seeing impressive performance before fine-tuning for specific domains, our RAG pipeline (Ragie) which powers Base Chat achieved a 99.4% precision on the LegalBench-RAG, you can learn more about it’s performance here: https://www.ragie.ai/benchmarks
@ryangilbert @dphenomenal101 @g_d @kui_jason the RAG pipeline that backs Base Chat is Ragie (https://ragie.ai). We don't support custom embeddings but we are beginning to support embeddings from different model providers. More on that coming soon.
Love how Base Chat automatically pulls accurate answers from multiple data sources, definitely saves time for teams. The built-in permissions and source citations are a huge plus. Great launch!
Love how it cuts through the noise and gives instant, reliable answers straight from company knowledge bases.
This is the kind of AI assistant every team needs!
Congrats on launching!
Teams store their knowledge across multiple platforms like Google Drive, Notion, Confluence, Jira, Salesforce, and more. But when you need answers, you’re stuck searching through documents littered across different platforms, outdated wikis, and endless Slack threads.
We built Base Chat so you can ask questions and get instant, up-to-date answers backed by real sources. I would love to hear your thoughts about Base Chat :)
@ash_grover Agreed! Base Chat is open-source: https://github.com/ragieai/basechat/
Bob! Great stuff, been working with Colin to try and get our use case going with Ragie. Now maybe Base Chat would be a great way for us to test and refine before we deploy into our clients Slack workspace. Pumped for you guys!
@ryanalldridge It's been great working w/ you Ryan. This sounds like a great idea happy to get you started
Integrating with business suites like Slack and Google Drive is indeed great, and I'm looking forward to seeing Base Chat being applied in real complex data scenarios. @foobarfighter Honestly, I'm a bit worried whether it's really possible to analyze vast amounts of enterprise data with just some simple configurations. Even for a startup of our size, there are hundreds of gigabytes of data (chat records, files, etc.) on Lark.
We've spent a long time building our RAG system and home grown integrations for enterprise data. Happy to get you started if you'd like to see
What an incredible team effort from Bob, Ibrahim, Gary, Mohammed, Andrey, Matt, Danny, Shreyas, and Colin! The breadth of integrations you've built (Google Drive, Notion, Jira, Confluence, Salesforce) is really impressive.
Love how you're tackling a universal pain point - making company knowledge bases actually usable! The source-backed answers feature is brilliant - it builds trust and helps users verify information instantly. And the ability to generate insights from complex documents? That's like having a data analyst on demand!
The perfect early rating suggests you've nailed the user experience. As your third launch, it's clear you're building on solid foundations and user feedback. Really curious about:
What surprising use cases have you seen from early adopters?
How does the AI handle conflicting information across different platforms?
Any interesting patterns in how different departments use the tool?
Quick questions:
What inspired this focus on knowledge base chat interfaces?
How do you ensure the AI stays within the context of company-specific terminology?
Any plans to expand the integration ecosystem further?
The strong engagement on launch shows how many teams are struggling with knowledge management. You're essentially turning static documentation into dynamic conversations!
Keep revolutionizing how teams access and understand their collective knowledge. You're making company wisdom actually accessible! 🧠💡
Looking forward to seeing how Base Chat evolves - this feels like the future of internal knowledge management! 🚀
@sachee_katre Hey Sachee, happy to get started for you. Feel free to email me at colin@ragie.ai

Hi Product Hunt! 😸
We’re excited to launch Base Chat today! 🚀
We originally built Base Chat as a reference application to show users what they can build with Ragie Connect, our RAG-as-a-Service platform that helps developers embed RAG into their product, but the demand was clear—teams wanted a powerful AI chat experience that delivers accurate, source-backed answers from their knowledge base. So, we turned Base Chat into a full product.
What is Base Chat?
Base Chat is an AI-powered chatbot designed to help teams find information faster. It connects directly to your company’s knowledge base (Google Drive, Notion, Confluence, Jira, and many more) to provide instant, up-to-date answers backed by real sources.
Why Base Chat?
✅ Handles complex documents and retrieves precise answers fast.
✅ Works across multiple teams (Sales, Support, Engineering, HR).
✅ Connects to all your data sources (Google Drive, HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack & more).
✅ Enterprise-ready with built-in permissions.
Base Chat is powered by Ragie, our RAG-as-a-Service platform that helps developers embed RAG into their AI applications at scale.
Right now, Base Chat is available via a white-glove onboarding experience—if you’d like to try it, book a demo, and we’ll get you set up!
Would love to hear your thoughts and answer any questions! 🔥
