Docket — Tinder for grocery lists
Featured
32
You're standing in front of your fridge, staring mindlessly into it. What's missing? What should I buy? Never ask these questions again, use Docket! It's a web app that suggests products, and if you want, you can swipe right to put them in your grocery list

Nice work, @gbougakov. Are you planning on adding more features? Maybe custom shopping lists?
George Bougakov
@rrhoover Thanks for the idea, will certainly consider adding it. Now it doesn't have a lot of features because I literally made it in three hours on school breaks. BTW, thanks for making Product Hunt 😄
Imran Hussain
I'm not sure if I want to date my groceries
George Bougakov
@imran_hussain1 well, that’s not really the point...

Great work @gbougakov... Keep making more amazing things...

Hey cool work! You could also do whole meals, AKA what shall I eat this week? And then 'like' it to add the ingredients to your grocery list for the week (and receive the recipe!), then click 'Order' to automatically order the groceries from a company like Instacart. Lot of work though! :p
Pier 🍉
(Or you can just send the final list to yourself on Whatsapp / SMS. Especially helpful for busy parents, I bet!!) :) @gbougakov
George Bougakov
@pyer the thing is, that if I make a [Send to WhatsApp] button, my parents will start using it and sending lists to me :))
Bruno Crosier
Great idea! One thing - you should make it so that swipe right = "yes" and swipe left = "no". Otherwise anyone who uses Tinder will end up with a list of grocery that they don't want :)
George Bougakov
@brunocrosier that’s true! I am actually not yet old enough to use Tinder, so I completely missed this
Alexandre Bougakov
@gbougakov 😂😂😂😂
Bruno Crosier
@gbougakov I hadn't seen your age - I am even more impressed now :)

Please use pictures. Images of product scale because not all shoppers speak English! Now imagine that soda can be confused with baking soda for cooking, baking soda for cleaning and soda as in a sugary beverage. So images will clear all that up instantly. Now also imagine that you can use Branded images but if a Brand wants to be featured on this app, an app which is now globally useful, they have to pay you to be featured there. Until a Brand pays you to be featured then you use an unbranded image. Am I getting my idea across?
George Bougakov
@esinger the idea is cool, but I’ll have to get the pictures somewhere
Sharath Kuruganty
This is so cool George. Glad you found one of the interesting ideas that featured in my product - #RequestForProduct and shipped it. Love your maker mentality. Wish to see you build more products like this. Keep going buddy 🙌🏻
George Bougakov
@5harath thanks!
Anna Filou
It would be cool if the names were accompanied by emoji. Like: 🥛 Milk 🍪 Cookies 🥗 Salad greens That way they would be faster to process. Also there is absolutely no feedback when you swipe right or left. The card should turn green when something is added to the list and red when it’s discarded or something else of that sort.
George Bougakov
@anna_0x cool idea, will add

Great stuff

Pros:

Extremely impressive for anyone let alone a 13yr old 👏👏👏 UI is beautiful 😍

Cons:

Locked swiping or more friction to the swipes Show all items when done on export screen

George Bougakov
At one of my IT classes I was extremely bored and saw a tweet by @peterkringdon "Request for product: tinder for building a grocery list" and after searching for datasets and coding for a couple of hours, I made docket. Feedback on it is really appreciated!
Jaina Mehta
I wasn't super impressed by this until I realized it was made by a 13 year old. Amazing work, keep it up.

All Well.

Pros:

Today Times This Type of Apps. are SO Many, The Product Quality, Price, Service Should/Must Focused on New, Regular Buyers.

Cons:

All Should Be Improve Time To Time.

Mikhil
The idea is cool.. but not just be limited to few items of fridge.. include groceries, toiletries and other eatables. An app would be much helpful
George Bougakov
@mikhilpal there’s one problem: lack of data. I’ll need to find datasets which contain names of these products, and it ain’t easy!
mark calvo-cruz
@mikhilpal @gbougakov I wonder if you can crowdsource the data. Request each new user to input X amount of different items in order to use the app. Then the app would get better as more people start using it
Alexey Opalev

Pretty cool app for short and quick sessions. The way i feel it is the app is more like reminder list than tinder for what i want to have in my fridge :) I suggest adding some algorithms to adjust users preferences whether it would be huge mappings and relations between products or some ml stuff. Good luck

Pros:

ease of use simple lightweight evolvable

Cons:

consider adding machine learning to deal with growing list of products

Deniz Chiftchi

In my certain opinion this App could have helped a lot of people in the lives.

Pros:

THATS ANORMOUS! HOW DID YOU GET TO IT?! GENIOUS!

Cons:

There is no other Apps like this.

Jamie Vickery

Please sell this to Ocado!

Pros:

Makes the hell of online shopping bearable. Especially when it’s integrated into your favourite shop and remembers your past orders.

Cons:

Couldn’t remember which way I had to swipe.

James Bathgate
Alright Instacart needs to pay this kids a few bucks for the idea and integrate it into their app.
