Push lets you send the websites from Safari to your iPhone or iPad so that you can continue reading that blog or watching that video while switching from your Mac. You can also push the clipboard contents from your Mac to your iPhone using the menu bar icon.

How does it differ from Paste? https://pasteapp.io/
Pawan Dixit
@scottwwilliams Paste seems to be for recording your clipboard history. Push is to instantly sent your clipboard to your iPhone or iPad. On iPhone you don’t need to open the app. You can copy the contents directly from the notification.

I don't get the negativity here. This has potential to grow into a successor of the long seemingly abandoned Pushbullet. I currently still use Pushbullet to send links from my iOS devices to Chrome to be able to act on them later, when I am back at the desk. This is a scenario where neither Airdrop, nor Handoff work. Yet, I am very unhappy with Pushbullet. I personally do not need my links on their servers, as I don't make use of their web API. The iOS also doesn't make any use of modern iOS features (Shortcuts, Siri integration) and it is not even optimized for the tall screens of the iPhone X and up generations. As an alternative to using Pushbullet I've seen people setting bookmarks, which later have to be deleted, abusing their note taking or todo apps for that, which all requires cleaning up afterwards, or even using "mail to self" apps, which will clutter your mailbox, as well as Telegram chats with just yourself in it. I would love to have an iCloud based push service for links and maybe later files and everything else between devices without having to relay on a cloud service outside of the Apple eco-system! Really hope to see the product evolve, Pawan 👌

@boettges Thanks for a really nice comment. You made a really good point about privacy. I am definitely looking to add more features to make is complete. Added pushing text to sort of message yourself both ways to my todo list.

Handoff on Mac / iPhone seems to be much faster as the browser / app you are using simply appears on the other device instantaneously. But if there was an option to organize texts with labels and also share pictures and files that would be a nice advantage
Pawan Dixit
@gilgoldstein The difference is about pull and push mechanism. Consider this scenario - you are watching a youtube video on Mac and need to switch to your iPhone which is in your pocket or table. You would have to so these things: 1. Not close your Mac lid so that handoff works 2. Pick up your phone unlock it 3. Go to the app switcher or Safari to access handoff with Push it is just: 1. Click on push icon in Safari 2. Tap Notification on iPhone/iPad 🎉
Pawan Dixit
@gilgoldstein Thanks for your suggestion. Can you explain a bit more on what do you mean by text with labels and how do you imagine sharing a file or a picture? It would help a lot as I am looking to add more features going forward.
Gil Goldstein
@pawan_dixit1 yeah sure, so for labels I mean like creating hashtags in the text you send, and the mobile app can organize everything you share by those hashtags (like folders). For files, a simple drag & drop functionality in the Mac app to allow sending that file to the iOS app

The idea is good an essential but this feature is built-in in macOS if I am not wrong. For example you can paste in your iPad whatever you copy on your Mac. You can share any content using AirDrop. What is different in yours? You are able to do it when your devices are away from each other?
Pawan Dixit
Hey @zafer_arican Yes, the proximity is not needed. And it’s faster and more reliable than Airdrop and handoff in real-life usage. Because you don’t need multiple taps to trigger Airdrop and then wait for your devices to show up. With Push, you get an instant notification on your iPhone.
Yan Sidyakin
You can tap "share" on a webpage and airdrop it to your other device though
Pawan Dixit
@sidyakinian Correct. With Push you can do that in one tap without waiting for Airdrop to discover your device. Push is all about convenience ✌️Also, Push works even when Airdrop is not available.
Pawan Dixit
Ever had to switch to your iPhone or iPad while browsing something in Safari or watching a video. Or ever experienced that your clipboard is not syncing to your iPhone or iPad fast enough. Push can help without all the drama. You get an instant notification on your iPhone or iPad so that you can just tap and continue with your stuff.
Pawan Dixit
One use case for Push - Let's say you are watching a youtube video on Mac and need to switch to my iPad or iPhone. With Push, you can just push the current site to your iPad and tap on the notification on iPad to continue watching that video. While with iCloud tabs you have to open Safari and find your YouTube tab in there. Push is all about convenience.

So you want to take 2 $ for native Apple function, and take 2$ for clipboard push? Really?
Pawan Dixit
@user1man Push just makes it as easy as a single click and tap on the notification, instead of multiple steps required for Airdrop, handoff, or iCloud tabs. Yes that is the current pricing that will make me improve and push more updates - push from iPhone to Mac coming soon without any extra charge ✌️
Saidusmon
Apple devices already got this function🤔
Pawan Dixit
@saidusmon1 Correct, Push just makes it easier than ever with just a single click to send things to your iPhone without any bluetooth or wifi requirements.
