While this seems like just another tutorial series, what really struck me was Gordon's (the maker) context of why he created this course and how it differs from almost any other course available.
It really hit home for me, because he basically described me. Someone who's been on-and-off trying to learn code for over a decade. While I consumed books, online tutorials, Code Academy, etc. etc., the leap from having knowledge to applying it was (as Gordon describes) a cliff. You're on one side, and there's a ravine, and actually applying it is the cliff on the other side.
He hits the nail right on the head with a lot of issues with other learning methods. Quite frankly, learning how to code still hasn't been solved, even by the most widely accepted solutions (ex. Code Academy).
While I'm only done the first third, I find this series more compelling than any other, grounded in the fact that the maker understands the pitfalls of other learning resources better than anyone I've heard/read so far.
