@rrhoover We're debating internally whether we should power other delivery startups via the API or offer it ourselves. I'm a big fan of the category.

This is a brilliant initiative. Even though you can order alcohol with custom orders, making this an incentive to use Postmates Plus Unlimited is genius to get free delivery on alcohol. I won't go to liquor stores anymore after it comes to Nashville!
How is something like age verified? Is it through the app or do the people that deliver enforce it? What happens in the event of fake IDs?

@ay8s We wanted to start with an easily to manage basic inventory but yes, we will add more items constantly, even outside of just alcohol.
Will it show up room-temperature, shook up, and sideways in the bag an hour after ordering?
@basti haha great! For the record I've only had a few drop-offs that were rattled around a bit. Overall, you guys do a good job.
What are the differences between this and how alcohol has been offered on Postmates previously?
@dhulser This is a good question because most changes are not necessarily visible but let's start with the visible ones first. We reconfigured the tab bar to now feature a Food and a Drinks tab. When you slide to the Drinks tab you will notice that we have designed the experience to be item level first. You can browse the available inventory directly, without selecting a store - the store is automatically selected based on your location. We also added bundles, offers and clever category descriptions. ;) But the biggest changes happened in our logistics stack. We partnered with dozens of liquor stores to make the delivery faster, we created a base inventory that matches across all merchant partners and we integrated all merchants into a more real-time inventory system. The merchant partners also do the pick & pack for us, which in return helps minimize the time spent at the pickup and leads to faster overall delivery times.
Too bad the alcohol delivery option is closed on Mondays, and of all days to be closed!
