The GIF Keyboard app by Riffsy is ranked in the top charts in mobile and Giphy on web. Does PopKey think the desktop version will gain a lot of traction and organic lift?
Honest question:
How do these "gif" apps deal with copyright issues? Especially the ones that wan to be large businesses. Almost all of these gifs are taken from copyrighted works (i.e. movies, celebrity photos etc.).
Is it the YouTube strategy of ask forgiveness and go legit later when they are big (which didn't work out well for all the music startups...) or are these gifs not considered to be infringing...?
I would think movie studios would want to keep the option of monetizing even small portions of their content (i.e. a 3 second clip of Minions) the same way the music studios monetized small pieces of their content - ringtones.
Unfortunately, this is lacking the ability to save/fav GIFs – something I've found to be invaluable in apps like Gifwit: http://www.producthunt.com/tech/...
@rwdaigle Hey Ryan, If you right click you can save the GIF locally. We are planning on rolling out the ability to favorite shortly! Thanks for your support!
