Looks fantastic! Although I'd love to be able to pull the cable and see it automatically extended instead of manually unrolling it. Other than that - seems perfect!
Arthur Maitre
@piotrkulpinski Thanks! We did have quite a few discussions in the initial design phases about adding a spring-loaded rolling/unrolling mechanism, but those components are unreliable and often break, leaving you with a useless product. We want people to be able to use ECLIPSE for as long as possible!
Arthur Maitre
@piotrkulpinski No problem! Always happy to share our design thinking

I had the "Wow" moment with the USB C! Really great product. I'll make sure to back it up. Is there a way to have multiple adapter (if we travel a lot)? It's not the same between Europe, US, UK, Japan etc.
Arthur Maitre
@tsunaze Great to hear there's some USB-C love! Thanks for the support. Unfortunately, we don't have plans for a multi-adapter version. You can get either a US / UK / EU plug type and then use a worldwide plug converter from there. Since it's 110-240V, you can use it anywhere!
Arthur Maitre
@tsunaze My pleasure Pierre-Marie!
Pierre-Marie Galite
@arthurmaitrenu But did you think about a wireless charging version?
Arthur Maitre
@tsunaze We did have quite a few discussions and debates about wireless charging during the product design process - we actually have a section on our KS project page about this. I hope you don't mind if I copy + paste! We have been waiting for wireless charging to become the norm for years now, but the reality is, we're still very much in the cable era. Current technologies require a charging mat or puck that still needs a USB cable to be plugged into a power source. The charging speed is slower, and you can't comfortably use your mobile device while it charges because it needs direct contact with the mat. Furthermore, there are different standards competing with each other (Qi, PMA, etc.) making this market still really niche. We decided that it was not worth increasing the total price and size of ECLIPSE by adding a wireless charging coil that would only benefit a limited number of users. However, ECLIPSE works with most wireless charging devices. Its flat wooden top will be the perfect support for any charging mat.

Hey Product Hunters! I'm Arthur Maitre, co-leading the ECLIPSE Project on Kickstarter with our Head of Design, Fabien Nauroy. After designing and developing a line of charging cables at Native Union, we decided to start working on a solution to tame the messy charging cables we all have in our homes and workspaces. We're so excited to share this with you - please feel free to let us know if you have any questions!
Nick Zieber
@arthurmaitrenu Hi Arthur! This is such a great idea. Is it the most complex product that Native Union has designed up to this point? Also, what's the story behind why Native Union wanted to produce such a product?
Arthur Maitre
@nzieber Thanks for the kind words! I wouldn't say it's the most complex product we've made before from a product development and engineering standpoint. Native Union makes products featuring genuine marble (an iPhone Dock, an Apple Watch Dock, and even an iPhone case) which are extremely complex from a production and quality control perspective. ECLIPSE has some complexity in terms of the capacitive touch sensor and internal motor, but not anything we can't handle ;) The story of ECLIPSE is pretty ironic actually. After the success of our first Kickstarter campaign, the JUMP Cable, we launched a full line of charging cables but quickly realized that no matter how great our charging cables were, there was still the everyday problems of "cable spaghetti", slow charging, and fumbling for your cables in the dark. Native Union is all about solving these types of frustrations in a simple way, so the initial ECLIPSE concept was born. It was basically a silicone salad bowl with a hard plastic top with no cable channels - we've gone a long way since then!

Been eagerly waiting for this to hit Kickstarter & as soon as it did, BANG, I pledged. Also it was fully funded within 2 and half hours? That's impressive but shows it's a must have product!
Arthur Maitre
@gadgick Thanks so much for backing us! We honestly could never have imagined this kind of support this early in the campaign. Looks like cable frustrations are alive and well... we hope to make them a thing of the past :)
Nic Coates
@arthurmaitrenu Absolutely, one of the pain points of owning gadgets! I was a backer on your first KS campaign & still use the JUMP cable - I'm really looking forward to Eclipse!
Arthur Maitre
@gadgick So great to have another JUMP Cable backer on board! We're pumped to have you on board for our second Kickstarter journey. Thanks a million for believing in us.

I like it, great job
Arthur Maitre
@rotemthegolfer Thanks so much! Loving the support from the ProductHunt community. You guys are the best!
David Feng
Looks amazing! Are the charging cables inside the unit pre-wound or do I have to wind them in myself? Is it possible to remove one cable without dismantling the entire thing? @arthurmaitrenu
Arthur Maitre
@davidsfeng Thanks! The charging cables are not included with ECLIPSE - you can use the cables you already have. Cables are wound in and out of ECLIPSE manually. Have you ever wrapped your headphones around your iPod or phone? Wrapping cables back into ECLIPSE is a very similar and familiar motion. Regarding removing cables - ECLIPSE was designed for the cables you use the most, as a semi-permanent charging station. In order to unplug the USBs, you will need to unwind the three cables out of the "fishbone" structure that keeps the cables neat and organized so that you can access the 3 USB ports at the base.
Benjamin Kimo Twichell
Awesome! Now if it only had a USB-C port I would buy it
Arthur Maitre
@benkimotwichell Thanks! One of ECLIPSE's USB-A ports can convert to a 3A USB-C port :)
Furqan Tafseer
It is a fantastic idea and looks like a brilliant execution. I only wonder if the wire attached to it is detachable? It will improve mobility and travelling with it!
Arthur Maitre
@furqantafseer Thanks so much. We did consider making the power cable removable, but the internal components that were required made the product bigger than what you see today. We also would have had to remove the transformer from within the unit to on the power cable itself, which would make it even less travel-friendly. There is a cable "belt" that is included on the power cord itself which helps keep that cable neat as well. You'll see it if you look closely in the video! We haven't gotten into much detail about it yet, but we'll have more to share about the "belt" itself during the campaign.
Furqan Tafseer
@arthurmaitrenu Sounds really good to me. Just noticed and it seems nice. Hoping to see more of it soon! Great one guys!
Arthur Maitre
@furqantafseer We appreciate your support Furqan! We have a few more surprises in store for our backers too :)
Giacomo Lawrance
Love this product! Sounds like it could be for me, I always end up getting cables tangled up.
Arthur Maitre
@giacomolaw Thank you! We hate messy tangled up cables too ; ) Hope you'll join us!

Elizabeth Ho
Absolutely love the visuals and presentation right after the product itself. A job well done.
Arthur Maitre
@elizabeth_casetify Thanks so much! :)
Ouriel Ohayon
too bad it is only for 3 cables. in my case it s like i need at least 5 or 6
Arthur Maitre
@ourielohayon Thanks for the feedback, Ouriel! We designed ECLIPSE to be your go-to charging station for the devices you charge on a daily basis. After some market research, we realized that the average person owns 6 devices, but only charges 2 or 3 devices on a daily basis. By going with 3 USB ports instead of 4 or 5, ECLIPSE covers a large portion of everyday users and remains small enough to be unobtrusive and work well in an environment like your nightstand. Our aim is to take something that no one likes to look at or deal with, a power strip and a mess of cables on the floor, and turn it into a useful design object you're happy to show on your nightstand, in your living room, or office. You could always go with 2 ECLIPSEs to cover your personal charging needs :)
Niv Dror
1st Impression: "I don't know what this is but I want it" 2nd Impression: This is useful! I want it. ✨
Arthur Maitre
@nivo0o0 Hooray! Glad we piqued your interest Niv :) Thanks for your support
Fred Rivett
The night time shot with the subtle backlight. Truly beautiful. WANT.
Arthur Maitre
@fredrivett Thanks for your support! Hope to have you as a backer :)
Vamsi Varanasi
Do we plug in our own cables or does it come with charging cables for iDevices and USB-C attached?
Arthur Maitre
@vamsikvaranasi Thanks for your question. With so many possible combinations and styles of charging cables given ECLIPSE's 3 ports (one of which is USB-A/USB-C), we designed it to be compatible with the cables you already own. Cables are not included with ECLIPSE.
Cody McLain
Cool stuff! Great work guys. :)
Arthur Maitre
@codymclain Really appreciate it. Thanks Cody!
Amanda Purvis
Do you have any more images? Or a video showing this in action?
