Make your cloud storage beautiful. Playbook declutters, auto-tags, and intelligently organizes your creative work. Seamlessly browse, collaborate on, and share what you need with friends, colleagues, clients—or the whole world!
I had the chance to use Playbook a while back, and even though I have not really taken advantage of it, I can tell it’s a well-made, practical product, perfect for busy freelancers and creative agencies. Basically the more clients you have — especially at the same time — the more you need Playbook.
Hey Product Hunt! Thanks for hunting us, Nick!
Can’t find past work in nested folders? Misplaced the white SVG version of your logo? Going back and forth with your client for the 15th time and lost track of whether _FINAL_FINAL_v14.png is the latest version?
Wish you had a place where your files are neatly organized?
Playbook is a visual cloud storage platform that’s built to fit your creative workflow. There’s a lot to explore, but here are some of the highlights:
🏞 Everything is visual. Browse PSDs, icons, and whole photoshoots at a glance
🕓 Versions/formats of files are grouped together to keep things neat and tidy
🏷 Images are automatically tagged — find things without file names
📦 Google Drive and Dropbox are integrated
💅 3 themes are available for publishing your work to a portfolio or client
We’d love for you to join our early community. Use the link on Product Hunt to skip the waitlist, and we’ll set you up with a free Pro plan:
- 4TB of storage (no joke—we don’t want you to ever worry about running out of space for your work)
- A free 3D illustration kit by award-winning designer Leo Natsume
We can’t wait to see what you create!
The GDrive integration is my favourite part! Along with the great UI. Project collaboration looks so time efficient. Zoom presentations have never been this visually pleasing! Are there more sharing options available?
Wow this looks almost too good to be true - it feels like design teams I’ve worked with have been so disorganized in the past and now I realize they were just underserved and flying blind. I wish I could go back in time and use this! Going forward is the next best thing I suppose 🥲
How does the automatic tagging work? Do you use my data to train models?
@zan2434 Haha thanks Zain! We currently use Google Vision API for tagging. It's extremely accurate for photos. We'll soon be working on the self-training since a lot of our enterprise users want this!
@zan2434 so glad to have you on board! To add to Jessica's answer, something we're super excited about is using ML to build a classification structure that's specific to your team. Imagine the exploratory tools you can use on Google Photos or Pinterest, but customized to the styles and attributes that you actually use in your day-to-day work :)
Early user here; this is a great product, simple, and beautifully designed. A designer's dream file and asset management system.
Keeping assets organized and managing access to branded content has always been a huge pain, Playbook has made it easy for us to collaborate with our marketing/sales/agencies/performance marketing teams and be sure they are using the right assets.
Orders of magnitude better than the shared GDrive links via email.
This is such an effective file management system! The visual appeal is so neat that it won't look hasty. Awesome compartmentalization and sorting features. It's like Dropbox but bigger and aesthetically pleasing!
That's an awesome product
I'd to know why is so generous to gift you 4tb storage lifetime, how is that possible?
I don't mind it, just curious on what's the road of playbook team
Thanks for this awesome product, upvoted so fast!
Playbook is just incredible, thanks a lot for the invitation!
?makers The only thing I really miss is sort files / boards by name, size and date. Currently there is no way to sort items alphabetically or to discover the biggest and the latest item added. Any chance to add this functionality? Keep up your fabulous work! :)
@alexander_designer so glad you're enjoying it! We'll definitely be working on search+sort+filter tools in the coming months; you can also upvote or add requests at https://feedback.playbook.com/ if you want to follow along. For latest item added, you can already use the timeline view (selector next to the board name). Thanks for the ideas and email us any time if you have more requests!
@alexzirbel Thanks a lot for your response, Alex!
You're right, the timeline helps to some extent. However, when files are uploaded in bulk the order of files will be incorrect because they become loaded asynchronously. The platform is simply fantastic, and it works so smoothly! Looking forward to new sorting options to make it even better ;)
And thank you for the provided link, it's really useful 👍 Cheers!
This looks very intriguing, but I am curious as to how it actually works. Is this a Dropbox-ish service where folders locally and in the cloud sync with each other? Can you selectively choose what to sync? Is everything uploaded to Playbook synced on a local drive (My laptop drive is MUCH smaller than 4TB) or does this function more like a remotely accessed hard drive where I can download files as needed? Are the accounts, files, and playbooks available to be viewed publicly once uploaded, or can everything be kept private (I am thinking about projects that might have some industry or personnel info used that should not be publicly available. I tried searching the website but I was unable to find any kind of information that explains how the service works with the data and files I would be using. ?makers
@antisyphus all good questions! Playbook isn't a generic syncing file storage like Dropbox — if you want to put something in Playbook, you can either upload it or link an existing Dropbox/Google Drive and import from there. Then everything stays stored in the cloud. (We'll be adding a local machine -> Playbook sync in the future, but even then it's not likely to be a two way sync).
Dropbox is the best comparison for how the service works, but it's also different. Playbook is a place to manage your creative work. It's a personal space, so anything you add is private to you (and any teammates you invite to your workspace). From there, you can choose to share files publicly, invite people as guests to your workspace, or just use it yourself for searching and browsing your work.
I've been an early tester now and I love what you are building at Playbook. Super intrigued where it goes and features that are coming next. All the best, team!
It's a bit of a shame, reading through the privacy policy it looks like they take an unnecessary amount of data... and use it for things like advertising (including third party).
I'd love to use an app like this, but I'm not super keen on uploading my content to have it mined for data. Especially work-related content.
@roderickjmusic hi Roderick, I didn't see this comment until now, but wanted to reply anyway for you and anyone else who's reading later. The data we collect is pretty standard stuff for SaaS tools, and you'll see similar terms for products like Figma, Slack, etc. We see ourselves as a data storage company, and so while we need to handle your data to make our product useful (ex: we index your files and automatically tag them to make them searchable), we will never sell your private data externally or "mine it" for use in advertising. Happy to answer any other questions — email support@playbook.com.
@playbook@alexzirbel One of the (several) stand outs in your privacy policy is this:
"Advertising Partners. Through our Services, we may allow third party advertising partners to set Technologies and other tracking tools to collect information regarding your activities and your device (e.g., your IP address, cookie identifiers, page(s) visited, location, time of day). These advertising partners may use this information (and similar information collected from other websites) for purposes of delivering targeted advertisements to you when you visit third party services within their networks. This practice is commonly referred to as “interest-based advertising” or “personalized advertising.” If you prefer not to share your personal information with third party advertising partners, you may follow the instructions below."
Unfortunately, as far as I could find (the privacy policy is dense, so I may have missed something) the "instructions below" just say to adjust settings on the users device. These methods rarely work as well as described.
There are several references to using information you gather and giving it to third party advertisers. So I'm a little confused about your claim that you aren't using user data for advertising?
@playbook@roderickjmusic thanks for pointing that out. Our privacy policy was broadly written, but we never intended to use user data for targeted advertising. We've removed that language.
I appreciate you taking the team to read through this! We're a young company and it'll be an iterative process as we bring our written terms in line with our values. Your feedback here really helps.
@playbook@alexzirbel thanks for responding. It would be great to have a simpler version of your privacy policy - even reading through again I see references to interest based advertising, third party advertising and find it a little confusing. Calling out key points in simple terms (in a dedicated section before the full policy) can make a huge difference. Although obviously may not be a priority for you so early in your products life!
Privacy is so important. It’s something that a lot of users really care about - especially when storing their files, and especially on a paid service.
Im also curious if there is encryption used as well, I can’t seem to find anything about it on your website.
I'm already trying it, I must say, wooooww... A really cool and innovative way to cloud storage your jobs, moreover it's get already on my list of "Must Have". 😃
As a very casual photographer who likes to share one-off galleries with friends and family, I've deleted my SmugMug account and now exclusively upload to Playbook, where the custom URLs and board themes make it really easy to just generate a link like https://www.playbook.com/s/cheng...! Everything is clean and also _so fast_.
