I absolutely love PlateJoy. I've been using it for the past 8 months and have gotten a bunch of my friends to use it too. It's been super helpful in a lot of ways:
--way more variety in my cooking/meals
--adds and element of surprise to meal planning (I look forward to seeing new meals for the week)
--helps me stay healthy despite dietary restrictions/food allergies
--makes grocery shopping more efficient/less stressful
--save money grocery shopping because I'm not buying random stuff
I also love that PlateJoy really cares about its users. They NPS customers regularly, and their founder has personally responded to my comments. They're always adding new features based on users' feedback. Basically, it's super affordable and awesome, and y'all should all try it.
I've used PlateJoy on and off for almost a year now. It has been a wonderful experience to see how much they have grown and responded to customer requests (such as fitbit and instacart integration). As a vegetarian it can get kind of boring eating the same old everyday, and some or the recipies in cookbooks can be somewhat daunting. PlateJoy has assisted me in cooking some amazing food, friends area always surprised and asking me for recipes. I really do enjoy cooking, but going to the grocery store to just buy for one meal based on one recipe is never truly effective or efficient. With PlateJoy I feel like I'm able to shop for a whole week, without thinking too much about waste of produce or what I am going to make.
Also the cost is super minimal. PlateJoy has literally changed my eating habits - in the sense that I rarely even want to eat out if I know I can make a better meal at home.

@cbognet I like the idea very much Christina.
I was just a bit disappointed that you didn't have any kind of free plan?
Or at least a trial of a month, so that we could test Platejoy more fully.
Keep up the good work.
I used to PlateJoy to help me switch from normal eating to vegan eating. They gave me a lot of creative ideas and recipes on how to eat healthy. But I also like that I was able to keep the recipes so I could refer to them again later. It's like having an online recipe book customized just for you. Great service! Give it a try!
I really enjoy this product. I am a vegan and even though I have my own recipes, Platejoy has provided me with more. Their recipes are very delicious and more important, I didn't have to go through the trial and error period of getting the recipe to taste right.
I also love that I can use the service as much or as little as I want each week. I am enjoying their service and the benefits save me time and make my taste buds dance!
@runtsgirl Juanita - this is wonderful to hear. I'll pass the recipe love onto @nicoledotvil & Emily - they'll be glad to know you're enjoying the fruit of their labor :) Hope to make your tastebuds dance for a long time (great imagery!) :)
This is my cherished discovery.
i found this service after weeks and hours spent researching different recipes on every different website available just to try to cook at home a few more days a week and stay healthy.
I didn't have staple healthy recipes as I never cooked for myself - thanks mom!
I have saved so much time and energy with this. Everything is so perfectly tailored to you as an individual. My shopping list and digital pantry - items like olive oil, garlic powder, etc - are always on hand.
You have a great meal queue that you can get excited about every week. You can also remove meals that seem unappealing from the queue but Platejoy keeps track and adjusts accordingly.
I have been using this for five months and have learned so much about cooking and new ingredients.
I would and have recommended to friends, family and co-workers. I can't say enough how great this is!
@laura_clauser Thank you so much for this, Laura. It's so meaningful for us to know the product has helped you, and your feedback helps us just as much. <3
I've been using PlateJoy for about 8 months now and it has made meal planning for my husband and I so stress-free. I used to spend a few hours every Sunday deciding what to make for the week having to balance my own personal preferences with my husband's - and then on top of that trying to find recipes that used similar ingredients so that we didn't waste food. Grocery shopping was disorderly, hodge-podge guesswork for me, but Platejoy has almost completely removed these cumbersome tasks from me now.
After a few weeks of using Platejoy, we bought a bulletin board for the kitchen in order to pin the printed recipes so that we both are aware of what's available in the fridge to make for the week. This has been a HUGE help because we never get home at consistent times - so whoever gets home first can start making dinner right away without any guesswork as to what's in the fridge or not.
I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to ensure you're cooking at home at least a few times a week.
I'd be interested to see future partnerships they forge - like LifeSum or MyPlate.
@krystha_tweets Woo!!! I LOVE the bulletin board idea, Krystha!! And we'll definitely consider those partnerships in the future. We now allow you to connect with JawBone & FitBit in beta.
Looks great, I've been using similar food delivery products before and this seems to address some annoyances we had with having limited options.
Aside from purchasing my items, what's the cost for using this?
@michaelenriquez Hi Michael! It's $59 for 6 months or $89 for 12 months. But with the ProductHunt discount, you get $20 off until June 30! :) (Code: YAYPH20)
I love platejoy. I've been using it for a little over a year now and it's been amazing to help me plan, especially since I'm always on the go! Their customer service is amazing and someone always replies promptly with any questions or concerns. I'm a proud member of PlateJoy and I love their service!
I'm a long-time user too. I started using it to encourage myself to eat fruits and vegetables at every meal and move toward whole foods and away from processed junk. I stayed with it because it makes my busy life easier. I don't have time to surf for recipes. With Platejoy, I don't have to. I just ask for recipes whenever I want them and, pow, there they are, along with a shopping list! I don't have to slog through the same tired sandwich day after day. I make fresh, homemade options I never would have thought of myself.
I love experimenting with different diet plans. I've tried vegan, whole30, paleo, kid-friendly, low FODMAP and probably others. I love the paleo plan now.
It's really flexible. I work outside the home, so it lets me plan breakfasts and lunches and snacks I can pack and take with me. My husband likes to handle dinner, so I leave that out of my weekly plan.
Anyway, I'm a happy customer and I think it's worth trying.
@lucy_childress Thank you so much, Lucy!!! We loved reading this and really appreciate the time you took out or your busy day to send us your love :) (And congrats on being so adventurous with your plans! Paleo is my favorite too.)
Looks awesome Christina. Gonna recommend Platejoy to a friend who is just learning to cook. Do you have a favorite cookbook for beginners learning the art & science of cooking?
@eriktorenberg Hey Erik! Enjoy your podcasts. I started PlateJoy after losing 50 lbs and wanting to help other eat better. We wanted to make sure we could serve a large audience (not just silicon valley) so expanded beyond our delivery product into a consumer app that everyone can use at their local grocery store. You can still send your ingredient list to Instacart, as mentioned above, but you can just as easily take it to the store with you in a small town in Pennsylvania. We also wanted to focus more on accommodating very specific diets (like low FODMAP for people with stomach issues or prediabetic patients) and have greatly improved the functionality for these users. :)
Great to look up your shopping list for a new menu while at the store, can't wait to Instacart comes to my neighborhood so I can click a couple of buttons and have my whole list delivered.
@chrissherrod I actually just used the Instacart feature for the first time this week - and I think it's great, but one thing that was tricky is not being able to switch to a different grocery store once all the ingredients had been ported over from Platejoy. There are some things that are so expensive at Whole Foods when Safeway has just as good Organics in some departments now.
I love love love this service. We had a medical scare with my partner a few months ago. He is diabetic and we had to spend a night in the ER as he was in diabetic keto acidosis. It was a wake up call. Even though I have 20 years + experience in cooking, I was looking for something to help set up healthy meals and make life easy. I was googling different options and stumbled on to PlateJoy. Signed up and the rest is history. There is more verity in the foods, easy to follow delicious recipes, and time saving grocery lists. I recommend this service to any one and everyone. I look forward to my new menu every week.
@audrey_yvonne_mcl Wow, Audrey, this is one of the best reviews I've ever heard. We are extremely honored to have been able to help. All our love and best wishes for health to you and your partner!
PlateJoy is the best thing that I've purchased this year, no question. Before Platejoy my wife and I would spend way too much time planning dinners, we would scan Pinterest for what seemed like hours looking for organic meals that also contained tasty proteins. After we reached the point of "just pick something, I don't care anymore" we would select 4 random recipes that all contained unique ingredients that we would only use once. We would then spend 2+ hours at the grocery store trying to compile the ingredients we needed. This was a horrible painful process that would often result in us eating out 3-4 nights a week. Now we have PlateJoy, and it couldn't be easier. We know exactly what we’re eating for the week and we’re in and out of the grocery store in 20min. The recipes are delicious, healthy and appropriately portioned. I'm 6'0" man that loves to eat and I'm 100% satisfied after eating a PlateJoy Dinner. Seriously my wife and I love this service, WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!
I love the customization with portion sizes and ingredients. PlateJoy has introduced my family to healthier meals that meet our preferences. The app makes shopping a breeze. I usually use a hand written shopping list and several times have been saved by referencing the app. We have so many new favorites from using Platejoy!
I've used so many nutrition products and coaches over the past year and almost all of them rely heavily on you downloading an app in order to get good, quality content! I love that PlateJoy is entirely platform independent, and is focused more on helping me do my thing - then doing it for me (aka other services that are more about meal delivery than fitting themselves into my lifestyle). I'll definitely be using this for the next few weeks to see how it goes!
