Hi ProductHunt community, I'm Mike, the founder and developer of PhotoJourney! 👋 PhotoJourney is my first product launch since leaving my job at Apple to go all-in as an indie app developer, so I'm super excited to share it with you all. So, what is PhotoJourney? - PhotoJourney is a camera app that helps you take daily photos and turn them into stunning time-lapse videos. - Camera tools like ghost mode and guidelines help you align the perfect next shot so that your time-lapses videos are buttery smooth. - Capture all sorts of personal stories such as daily selfies, plant growth, fitness progress, baby bump development, seasonal garden changes, pets growing up and so much more. - Video editing effects including boomerang, loops, speed adjustment and animated transitions let you fine-tune your time-lapse videos to help you tell the perfect story. - PhotoJourneys are ideal for sharing to Instagram or TikTok, or keeping to yourself as your own personal progress journal. I have so much yet to add to this product, so do reach out with any ideas or feedback you have. And if you like the app, I'd love if you could leave a review on the AppStore, it really does help. Thanks, and happy PhotoJourney-ing!

Hey @mike_gilroy! Wow, this sounds super cool! I love the idea of creating time-lapse videos from daily moments. Ghost mode seems like a game-changer for those perfect shots! Can't wait to try it out for tracking my fitness journey and plant growth.

Hey Mike, Can you share more about the ghost mode feature and how it helps with capturing consistent shots? This could be very handy for users aiming for professional-quality videos. Congrats on the launch!
Mike Gilroy
@kyrylosilin sure. Ghost mode allows you to overlay a previous photo over the camera screen so you can line up the next photo against the last one. You can choose to use either the first or last photo in the series for ghost mode. Using the first photo for ghost mode is the default as this helps keep each photo consistently aligned if you’re always matching against the same photo. Using the last photo taken for ghost mode is perfect if you want to make stop-motion effects though, as it allows you to move your subject or the camera position slightly with each photo. You can also adjust the opacity of the ghost image overlay to see more / less of the ghost image as needed.

Congrats on the launch! Camera guides looks very helpful for beginners! Got any expert tips on photography angles or settings? I'm all ears! I bet those tricks can make my shots pop even more.

@jane0621 hey Jane! My number one tip for great Timelapse videos in general is have something reasonably big / clear in the frame that will doesn’t move with each photo, so this could be a plant pot when tracking plant growth, your eyes / facial features for selfies, or a tree if taking landscapes for example. Having something remaining constant in the frame in each photo really enhances the time-lapse effect from my testing. PhotoJourney has some built-in camera presets for different use cases (selfies, fitness, plants, babies, landscapes, etc) so you can choose one of those and it’ll be setup to go with the best initial settings. And if you ever change a camera setting for a journey it will be remembered for the next photo, so you’ll always be able to get the same shot as before, even if days or weeks have passed.
