I agree that it seems way too good to be true. But I'm intrigued. Does the comic look of the character really bother anyone else? It makes it feel childish IMO -- it's like 2020s technology with a 1990s avatar. I think I'd rather see I'd rather see a faceless screen, or something that just slightly resembles a face. Adding this to my Future is Here Collection!

@danlev hey dan, the face is totally personalizable. we have a few faces now, and we're working on more.

Amazing! Looking forward to following the progress. Do you have a fully functional prototype? Would be cool to see less polished videos.
K
Maker
@dan_preiss yes dan. we'll post the less polished videos this weekend on our Kickstarter campaign. we're at CES launching the product this week.

Seems a little bit creepy and definitely a bit too good to be true, but reading the KS project page the duy seems to have the chops to do it.

This looks almost too good to be true! $1k early bird price is a no-brainer if it can do everything the video shows.

@Quan under $1k is the #1 criteria when we started designing the product. to us, it's important to make the price affordable for everyone.

do people really want a massive random face attached to a robot standing in their living room?
K
Maker
@_jacksmith hey jack. the face and name can be personalizable. it's actually not that big. we have to pack all the hardwares, sensors, etc. into the unit. please ping me at duy@robotbase.com if you want to see a live demo via skype or stop by our booth at CES, Eureka Park, TechCrunch Booth, Level 2, Sands Expo, Booth 75368.

She's a multi-talented personal assistant, an awesome photographer, a reliable security guard, a wonderful storyteller, and much more

I believe the real opportunity here is in the ability to utilize in autonomous applications. It would be really cool to see more details on use cases; particularly "ideas" of use cases. Very cool.
